sorry I thought I was editing my previous duplicate posts. However it doesn’t appear I am doing it right. Either that or the feature is off, as it doesn’t say to “Save” when you go into Edit mode.

CardiffBaseballParticipantI came from Northeast Ohio, (youngstown-warren), and we had many blacks. Akron-Canton, Cleveland, all within 50-60 miles and plenty of blacks, so I am not sure why a person of color couldn’t find a place to fit in. Mexicans possibly, and the Asian population is much less. You definitely do not see things like Chinatown, or Vietmanese villages. Also, you do see more Puerto Ricans perhaps than Mexicans.
CardiffBaseballParticipantAs we are walking down to the beach yesterday from our crappy 1050 Sq. foot house I overheard my 11 year old talking questions from his best friend.
The gist was, do you like it here in our (1050 Sq. feet) small house but now you live close to the beach or would you rather have your house back in Ohio? (2500 Sq. foot, not counting basement) He says he misses the big house in Ohio. Sure the weather was crappy but he had a huge bedroom, 3 acres (about 1/3 wooded) and a huge basement.
We have been here for a year and figured he was loving the beach living all the way. Big shocker.
CardiffBaseballParticipantObviously you can count SAIC as commercial and not govt. yet most of their revenue comes from the DOD, and Homeland Security.
CardiffBaseballParticipantSAIC has more employees in McLean, VA than SD, however SD is the Corporate HQ.
CardiffBaseballParticipantAround the kids sporting events we seem to be the youngest parents, as we were 26 and 28 when the kids were born. In many ways this sets you back when comparing to those who worked professional jobs until mid to late 30’s before having kids. Of course I can still throw a fastball at 37 but my son’s friend’s 57 year old dad, cannot. He does however have a nice house, and part of that is that he avoided the expense of kids until he was well into his 40’s.
CardiffBaseballParticipantI don’t know how real the pics are on Yahoo, but there are some incredible free women from 28-45 range. Upgrades across the board.
I’d be more scared that such a great looking gal was free because she had these insecurity issues and some guy couldn’t take it anymore.
CardiffBaseballParticipantIs it possible that she is close to people who have done very well in RE, and assumed they had it right. Now even though you made a wise choice, she resents it, because it didn’t follow the outline.
I think the pigginton women are the exception about not minding renting in this market. I know it bothers my wife, but I constantly feed her data on why buying right now isn’t a great idea, so she begrudgingly goes along. Having a slum lord landlord doesn’t help, and I know that adds stress to my wife’s life.
However, one thing to keep in mind is I don’t even have a successful sale, we basically have squat. I lost out in the midwest and had to bring 11K to closing, and now we don’t have a lot of savings. BTW my previous company laid off all they way up to my CTO when we were bought out, so the only reason I am here is because of a corporate transfer. I’d love to be sitting on some winnings right now, and your wife should be enjoying piece of mind.
CardiffBaseballParticipantOutside of the heat I just don’t understand the negativity towards Dallas that I see on these sites. I had a good time there. Of course I didn’t have the nightmare commute either, as I worked in Mid-Cities (Euless) and lived right around there as well. Of course I am also not an urbanite or take offense to Hummers, but hell that stuff is just as plentiful here.
Also I think more husbands “invest” in the infrastructure of their wives around here. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
CardiffBaseballParticipantSheesh look at 73-74 to 85. In 2005 dollars that sure is a wide swing.
CardiffBaseballParticipantWell I avoided Sorrento Valley because of schools.
I avoided UTC because I didn’t want the kids in Condos. However it sounds like you don’t have any of these issues. I most certainly would have chosen UTC or Sorrento Valley otherwise because I don’t like to have a long commute either. So it really depends on what your personal interests are outside of work. Pretty easy in Cardiff to hit the beach on the weekends and evenings for a little surf time.
CardiffBaseballParticipantDonut’s from VGs today lunch at Rico’s although that’s going into Encinitas.
In any case I commute to Genessee, and at around 8-8:30 from Birmingham to Genessee, it’s rarely more than 25 minutes. On the trip home, it can take slightly longer because of Via De Le Valle, I’d put the 4-5 commute at 30-40 minutes with once in a while an event or wreck pushing it over 50. Once you get through the merge down to 4 lanes, Birmingham isn’t far at all.
