bogleheads was quite useful. I wish this site wasn’t a ghost town. Learned so much here.
February 29, 2024 at 4:03 PM #903015Rich ToscanoKeymasterNot a site but this is by far the best investing book I ever read:
Investing Amid Low Expected Returns

February 29, 2024 at 6:05 PM #903017JCParticipantThank you for all of the great resources.
What do you think of these two?
1. Dion from WSJ – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztZylRK8xXE
2. Morningstar investing classroom https://www.morningstar.com/start-investing/classroom
March 1, 2024 at 11:25 AM #903018plmParticipantDion wasn’t useful, rather just read articles fron CNBC, much faster than watching a video. Morningstar was interesting but just an overview. I learned from a book and mostly online for particular topics I was interested in.
Currently looking for exit strategies for both rental home and long term capital gains in stocks. And what financial steps to take when transitioning to retirement. Bogleheads had many topics/threads that I read to get detailed information.

I learned there is nothing more unsettling for a relatively conservative investor than spending down the assets you have accumulated over a lifetime. I built her a very strong high quality dividend stock portfolio along with using some government bonds and income funds. It served her very well and she lived off the income while it continued appreciating for her heirs (my siblings and I). When she passed it was carved up 4 ways and while we have each done some tweaking over the last 4 years in each of our portfolios it has continued to perform well. She would never believe what its grown to become
