For Macromaniac….your area of ignorance
Center for Automotive Research and figures supplied to the Free Press by auto companies.
In that instance, Toyota Motor Corp. gave workers at its largest U.S. plant bonuses of $6,000 to $8,000, boosting the average pay at the Georgetown, KY, plant to the equivalent of $30 an hour. That compares with a $27 hourly average for UAW workers, most of whom did not receive profit-sharing checks last year. Toyota would not provide a U.S. average, but said its 7,000-worker Georgetown plant is representative of its U.S. operations.
Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. are not far behind Toyota and UAW pay levels. Comparable wages have long been one way foreign companies fight off UAW organizing efforts.

February 17, 2009 at 6:55 PM #348362socratttParticipantThe simple fact is regardless if Ford, GM and Chrysler made a good product or not, they obviously failed to understand the market and follow a successful business model. As with any other business in the US when you don’t run the company correctly you should expect to fail.
There have been some great Ford (Pinto) and GM (Aztek) products although I have always been a bit suspect of Chrysler. Every one of these CEO’s had to have seen the markets changing. I can’t imagine us Piggs were smarter than these CEO’s in predicting this collapse but heck in this day and age maybe that is the case. Sometimes I wonder if maybe we should form a new Pigg Party. We have a diverse enough clan I think we could make some things happen.
All this said, I believe we are making a big mistake in propping up the auto makers. This bailout money needs to focus on the future, i.e. alternative and natural energy. All this stimulus money is ending up in the hands of those who created this ordeal. I am not quite sure that is the answer.
Why doesn’t anyone bring up the Peugot 10 speed? I have one of those that has run for years. Just add grease and it pedals forever. I am all about foreign!

February 17, 2009 at 7:07 PM #348377Rt.66ParticipantFlu, you are even slower than most on this forum of dull knives.
Your kid’s tax payer dollars will go to pay for the global economic policies of the past few administrations. This is important stuff people, you really should educate yourselves a bit. Corporate America dismantled the greatest job base in history and replaced it with McDonalds jobs and FIRE economy, fake BS jobs. And you let them do it with your blessing and continue right now today, on this forum, to defend their total screwing of you and your kids.
Its not that America could not afford good jobs with good benefits and living pensions or that the idea is somehow a failed policy. Its that TBTB want to rule the world and the needs of America and American workers are a vast second place.
Our kids will pay for those lost benefits because our Government pursued policies that not only failed to protect our vital industries they actually inflicted great harm.
Also:
Borat was saying he had a very reliable American vehicle, a Ford Ranger. He was not asking your advice on were to go to get a reliable vehicle. He was making a statement ABOUT a reliable vehicle he owned. Try and keep up please.February 17, 2009 at 7:07 PM #348694Rt.66ParticipantFlu, you are even slower than most on this forum of dull knives.
