Rt.66
ParticipantThe Government is afraid of setting off an international chain event of protectionism.
In economic depressions protectionism always comes up. I for one think its about time. We have been giving the world “trade charity” for decades and we simply can’t afford it anymore. Both in the costs to our national debt and the costs to our job base.
Toss a $4k per imported car tarrif up and see if GM and Ford don’t get better. That is the idea right? For them to get better and be able to start hiring again? And certainly make that tax deduction US built cars only!

Participant
As to the auto makers not ultimately having to go through the BK process I have the following suggestion:
Take a shit in one hand and put all of your hope in the other hand and see which one fills up faster.
Do you have some sort of inside information you’d like to share? Or is it just that you have no faith in our governments resolve to throw as much money at it as is needed?
UAW jobs are good jobs. Companies that employ people for 100 years, pay them well and keep their pension and benefit commitments are to celebrated not scorned. Most Americans will only come to understand this when their own pension goes bye-bye in a BK.

ParticipantI know you aren’t calling me stupid!
Anyone who belives the MSM BS about UAW workers making double is a complete lemming tool. Do a little of your own research and stop towing the parrot lines your corporate masters throw to you.
Do a little research into health insurance laws in the US versus the rest of the world and the unfair burden our own Gov. forces on our manufacturers. How about frivalous law suits? Care to guess how much Ford and GM have in each car to cover those costs, versus glorious Japan?
Every heard of currency manipulation?
No way someone who makes the remarks you do can be successful enough to own a Navigator.
Oh wait this is the interent….I have two Navigators and and four Escalades. And I have a 57 Cheby too, chop chort, candy apple red!
