ParticipantI noticed this morning a bunch of trucks on both sides of the freeway, and I can’t figure out why they seem to be grading the land. However dredging and beautification could be all that’s happening.

ParticipantIf you want San Dieguito schools there are plenty of places in Encinitas and La Costa with no Mello Roos. Oh wait, Del Sur is not Carmel Valley but Poway schools right?
Me I just hate the yards with just about any new development.

ParticipantHey where would us fossil fuel using non-urbanites living in the safe areas with nice schools park when visiting the embarcadero?
Actually this place sounds neat but don’t a lot of parks eventually become gangster hangouts? I have heard you should watch your back in Balboa, and there are a ton of bums already around the stretch from Seaport Village to this area. Note that I have only been to the Zoo in terms of Balboa.

ParticipantMy wife grew up in Honduras, and during her college years her parents moved to Panama for 4-5 years. Finally they did a tour in Guatemala for a 5 or 6 years before retiring. They were christian missionaries. Strangely I haven’t had a big desire to visit. They also went back to work when that devastating hurricane hit Honduras.
We have looked into beach home rental vacations down on an island, off Honduras, but it’s still awfully expensive.
As far as retiring, I’ll probably head to a no income tax place, but I haven’t planned that far ahead. Texas or Florida?

Participant8 years in Abilene (military and finishing college).
4 in Dallas.
Also for consulting purposes had an apartment or hotel room in Houston for about a year while living in Dallas. Eventually after the MBA, went to work for big iron company who moved me back to Ohio.
I’d consider Texas for the right deal but I am not exactly looking. The no-state tax thing adds up, and I had fun in Dallas. I was fortunate enough to get the kids out of there before they became Cowboys fans.

ParticipantThanks sdrealtor I have never heard of this place. Sounds like a neat place to take a hike.

ParticipantSoCal Chargers. It doesn’t appear the NFL is hurting without an LA team. Maybe some in Orange County would flip to being Charger fans. I’d venture a good deal of season ticket holders are also in No. County.

ParticipantAnyone who throws out the Inquisition as a means of implicating christianity is a simpleton. It’s one thing to deviate and abuse your scriptures like what happened in Spain.
It’s entirely another to be following what your scriptures instruct ala fundamentalist throat cutters, or some might say muslims. (Pick your poison).Sure the fundamentalists are the extreme, but they are also truly practicing that which they are taught.

ParticipantI have a few searches that email me in zip and one is Cardiff, the other Encinitas. I am getting a ton of email updates for Encinitas. I just figure it’s the new year and certain people wanting to sell, are finally getting around to listing.

ParticipantThanks guys. I was just surprised to see a fixer upper go so fast. I am curious if a family entered escrow or another investor.
Did this show up on Zip because if so my search isn’t working.

ParticipantI wasn’t criticizing you Concho, just making a general comment that people often drop off that part of the house payment. Thanks for calculating that in too. Still too rich for my blood.
