Oc you’re preaching to the choir. I believe our automobilic society makes us nuts.
Cars are worsecthan drugs. They isolate. They give weird feelings of power. They are expensive. Society subsidizes and organizes itself around the needs if cars. And they kill a lot of us. They make it intolerable to be outside most places, and they even occasionally kill in a pedestrian only farmers market.

I hate cars.

On the other hand occasionally in foul weather they’re nice on a longer trip.

Haha, yes, I do recall the incidence when a Buick decided to go after a bunch of Santa Monica tree hugging fresh fruit buying pedestrians.

The other day someone was quite excited to tell me she has joined a walking club. That’s what cars have gotten us down to: natural walkers who now need to join clubs to walk.

A Black pilot friend of mine says that as a traveler he gets accosted with all kinds of propositions thanks to the reputation.

Therein lies conservative non-college White anxiety. Asians have the brains, Blacks have the prowess, and Jews have the money. The brave new world is a tough place.

All these bickering about being Chinese or Taiwanese reminds me what Bill Clinton once said in an interview: “(The biggest problem confronting our world) is the illusion that our differences matter more than our common humanity.”

Not a big Bill Clinton fan per se, but I think he was right on when he said that.
