[quote=svelte]Symbolism, whether it be a flag or a cross or a wedding ring, is such a ridiculous thing to spend any time and effort on in the first place.

I agree. For people it’s all about MY flag, MY religion and fidelity to ME.
Pretty stupid to get overcome with rage and anger over symbols.

Brian,
Can I ask why you finally decided to post this now? All of your previous posts defended their behavior and their right to conduct it. Now you appear to be condoning it calling it “pretty stupid to get overcome with rage and anger over symbols”
If it was so stupid why were the 1st Amendment rights of the students wearing the American Flag curtailed by school administrators?

BriBri, You need to have a cup of coffee with someone who has seen combat. They may be able to enlighten you. Short of that at least go see a graduation at our own MCRD. Symbols are important part of what America stands for, especially OUR flag. Anyone in the military will help you with this concept. After all they put their lives on the line for your right to state ill informed opinions.
