it’s the fact of life, that emigrate to a foreign place, with a foreign soil, there is an official language which is the common language everyone who interacts with for which countless governmental dollars should be directed into.
As much as you’re like there to be, flu, there’s no official language in America.
You may call English the common working language. But it’s not the official language.
You’re right, there’s no official language at the Federal level. There were many attempts to make English the official language, but it never passed. However, English is the de facto language. There are many states that do have English as the OFFICIAL language: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_the_United_States California is one of those states. So, for all us Californian, English is the official language.May 10, 2010 at 1:54 PM #549023anParticipant

it’s the fact of life, that emigrate to a foreign place, with a foreign soil, there is an official language which is the common language everyone who interacts with for which countless governmental dollars should be directed into. Brian, are you implying that, because it is not the ‘official’ language of the US, immigrants shouldn’t learn English?
