ParticipantSure you couldn’t legally deduct mello roos in the first place… but most folks did.
Now the state will be able to look at your itemized bill since you have to provide that info along with your parcel number. For those of us that live in non HOA areas… it seems like it might apply to various bond measures as well.
For example – from my bill:
FIXED CHARGE ASSMTS: PHONE
CWA WTR AVAILABILITY 858-522-6900 10.00
VECTOR DISEASE CTRL 800-273-5167 6.20
MWD WTR STANDBY CHRG 866-807-6864 11.50
MOSQUITO SURVEILLANC 800-273-5167 3.00Would probably NOT be deductible anymore.
Looking at the other bonds- which are tied to the value of the house – it appears they are not neighborhood specific, so probably still deductable.UCGal

< cut out the stuff putting the over-discussed public/private thing... >
Did you get a raise this year, and if so, how much?
sdr – you mentioned previously that you couldn’t say till 12/31/12.
But you can say if your figures for 2011 year were bigger than 2010.
And you can say if your healthcare costs, etc increased in price, or went down in price. For those of us on salary – our raises are largely based on how the company did, and our personal performance reviews covering the previous year.
So my raise and bonus that will happen in April was based on my performance reviews covering 2011. The paperwork has been done. HR and payroll have the numbers. It’s been decided. I just haven’t been informed of it yet because they wait till the last minute to inform the employees. We often find out the day it shows in our paycheck.

Um… No. Actually my current employer eliminated vacation time, and it’s just following what the going trend is… The newest vacation “policy” that employers are pushing goes like this. You no longer can acrue vacation. Instead if you need to take time off, you just ask yourmanager for time off for up to 2 weeks. Longer than 2 weeks blocks need SVP approval. Technically, you have unlimited vacation time as you can request as many vacation blocks as possible, BUT it’s always at the discretion of your manager to grant you the time off, subject to whether your work schedule permits.
Yeah that sucks and you are probably right about the reason they are doing it. It’s like a stealth pay cut. Time to start taking vacations!
I agree it sucks. I have a director that would totally be blocking time off requests because he personally never takes vacations.
It would impact the Indian employees a lot… the ones in my office tend to do long trips to India every 2 years, much to the annoyance of management who has to plan for 6 week absences.
It would impact me because I like to take 3 week vacations to help justify the expensive airfare overseas. Plus I’m at the Max of vacation because of long tenure so I’d probably get screwed trying to take it under that system. In today’s compressed schedules there’s never a good time to take vacation.

Participant

Are RP supporters actually crying he’s getting screwed out of a chance to be President because of voter fraud by Mr Haney in Hooterville dahling? Arnold Ziffel must be at the root of this all. Call Sam Drucker, he can straighten this all out.
No but if he wins a few states it shuts up the retards. It’s worth the effort, if not for this election for the 2016. We’re gonna stick it to the establishment. It’s gonna be a fight every step of the way. If we prove voter fraud in Maine, the major differences in the exit polls in Iowa might have much more meaning.
You keep saying voter fraud- … what voters voted fraudulently?
Obviously if we have voter fraud ACORN must be behind it somewhere, somehow… and these voters should have to show their ID also.I think the term your looking for is vote suppression… something the GOP has been perfecting to “prevent voter fraud” (that is extremely rare). Ironic that the GOP is using it against their own. The Maine gop chair is actively trying to get college kids votes tossed out … something that would hurt dems and Paul….

Participant

Where was Acorn in all of this? Where were the unions?
And why didn’t they have to show ID when they didn’t get to vote?
I thought those were the main sources of voter fraud?
I guess there needs to be a distinction. There is voter fraud and there is election fraud. When the state GOP Chair (A known Romney supporter) elects not to count votes from 17 districts that are known to be Paul territory and an entire county that was the only county Paul won in 2008, it is clear the Romney supporter is cheating in an extreme manner.
So which is this? Voter fraud (like the title of this thread) or election fraud?I assume you wanted to see Katherine Harris recuse herself as SOS of Florida during Bush v Gore, too. (She was state co-chair of the Bush campaign). And I assume you wanted to see Ken Blackwell recuse himself in the 2004 election when he was SOS of Ohio and had pledged in a letter prior to the election to “deliver Ohio for Bush”?
These folks are elected officials. Obviously – they
are politicians… and endorse/align with other politicians. You seem surprised by it all.UCGal

ParticipantNo clue on raises. We’re being acquired and they may use that as an excuse not to give any raises. After a few years of frozen pay – they did give raises last year… and my division is profitable and my review was decent… so hopefully I’ll get something.
Merit bonus will be typical according to a formula based on pay grade and review performance. My division did well – but we’ll be hammered by the other division’s losses. Somehow they always turn the “green lights” reported by the third quarter into “red” or “Yellow” stop lights for the year. I’m skeptical of how they determine this stuff. But I should get something… Nominally about 10%. It’s not distributed till June, though.
Equity grants – they changed the distribution for that last year – now you have to be a “chosen one” to get any. It used to be a pretty standard part of our total compensation… Not anymore.

Ok… back to discussions of real estate and the economy…

ParticipantHmmmm.
I had a family member recently pass at age 91 ( a month shy of 92). She was fat. She was in a nursing home at the end – and assisted living for a few years prior to that.
My mom and dad were thin and died of cancer in their 60’s and 70’s.
My in laws are not thin or fat – and are in their 80’s. Father in law is in a wheel chair so he gets virtually no exercise… he’s 88. Even before he was in a wheelchair he was pretty darn sedentary.
Oh – and they eat the worst of the American cheeses – that kraft stuff. (Yuck.)
I’m of an age (50’s) that I have a lot of old relatives or dead relatives. I have seen no correlation between weight and age of death.
Lasagna, when made right, isn’t that bad. It’s using ricotta (which comes in skim form) and *maybe* mozzarella. But it’s mostly pasta, tomato, meat (sausage, ground beef)… Both ricotta and mozzarella can be low fat.
Don’t pick on lasagna… I’m married to an Italian who makes awesome lasagna. (And he’s not fat.)

ParticipantFlorida was punished for moving up in the order. They had half their delegates taken away. You could argue that hurts Romney and helps Paul. I, personally would argue that it hurts FL GOP voters because their vote counts less.
As far as what is happening in caucus states.. I clearly stated it was LEGAL. I would argue that presenting yourself as a Santorum delegate to the rest of your caucus, with a *secret* intent to vote for Ron Paul at the state convention you are not operating in an above board way…. maybe my standard of ethics is different than others.
I participated in a caucus in WA state in 1992 and was voted to represent my precinct to the next level. I felt an obligation to vote in the intent I was sent to represent (until my candidate dropped out before the next level – then I followed how that candidate pledged publicly when he endorsed the ultimate winner.
UCGal
ParticipantUnless I’m missing something that video basically says votes be damned…. subvert the process by taking advantage of the fact that these delegates are not bound.
In other words a legal, but unethical, cheat.

In any case, stay away from that bleeping “mindful eating” that Brian recommended , jeez are they desperate for some peace of mind, or what?
Russ: I’m with you, brother! What is that shit? I try to eat all of my meals to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” and with a loaded revolver on the table. That makes it seem as though my life is an adventure and this meal might truly be my last!
Unless I’m eating waffles. Then it’s the Go-Go’s “Vacation” and cooking sherry. That seems more of a light-hearted meal.
I’d say you both owe me a keyboard but I’m on a tablet…. fortunately it wiped right up when I stopped laughing. -
