ParticipantI wonder of the reporters even check their facts with any databases? The story claims it’s a Million Dollar home in Temecula. I hope the rest of the story is correct but it’s not a MILLION DOLLAR HOME and it’s not in TEMECULA. I was curious when I watched the story from the link, thinking this might be in my neighborhood, so I ran a little search of other news outlets and found the street is Via Laguna and it’s in Winchester. A quick check of zillow and I see they were built in 2005, seem to sell for about 500k new, saw a few peak in the 6’s, one or two in the 7’s and can all be had for between 270k and 330k now. Looking at the map, it’s near Winchester Rd and Pourry Rd, North of Lake Skinner and South of Lake Domengioni. That’s North French Valley, North of Murrieta, almost Hemet. I ran a mapquest, it’s a 26 minute drive from my home in Temecula, the same distance from my home to San Marcos, Vista and Escondido. Do they not let reporters use the internet? Do they still have editors or producers or news shows, is ot so hard to look at comps before declaring a home’s value
So if a 300k home get’s vandalized in National City, maybe the reporter can write a headline like “Million dollar home in Rancho Bernardo is vandalized.” It would be just as accurate.

ParticipantI love an innuendo thread, especially about my favorite topic.
1st, to the OP regarding his research. With so many people walking away from houses, I haven’t a clue why anyone would cohibitate with an ex spouse, just let the house go and start over. None of the benefits of living together exist (sex, encouragement, teamwork, love, etc) and none of the benefits of singlehood exist (freedom, sex, independence, drinking, watching sports, not watching reality shows, porn, etc) so it’s basically hell. Enduring hell for money is worse than prostitution, at least prostitutes get a lot of sex and free time, I’m guessing of course.
Now on to the inneundo’s of older vs newer models. I’ve been at most of dealers and done my share of test drives. If renting and variety are not an option (which is the best option, of course) then 60’s models are the best choice. The depreciation hit was taken by someone else and the wall hasn’t been hit yet. Just avoid long term loans on these cars as their reliability is spotty. 60’s models have the right curves (either oem or aftermarket, doesn’t matter), slightly sturdier chasis but still have shiny paint and plush interiors. Go for the garaged, single owner, and older owner resales, clean carfax is a must, salvage title is to be avoided. The late 70’s, early 80’s is fine for a vacation rental but not for keeping. The 50’s stuff, well a car that old starts to need belts and hoses, none of which work all that great, plus it’s out of style. There are occasions when you find a classic that has modern features, upgraded and has been remodeled, ie. look for a new grill, artwork on the trunk, it’s an indication that under the hood there’s a steam cleaned engine. But do your research on anything built in the 50’s or earlier, just being an old car doesn’t make it a classic car, but they are out there.
Enough innuendo, seriously, for the pig ladies out there, regardless of age. Just own it, if things aren’t what they used to be, flaunt it anyways, wear things that make women gasp and men drool. For some reason there is nothing sexier than a size 12 woman in a size 6 dress that is fighting for it’s life, it just says I really don’t care what you think, I’m sexy. Shop the thong section at victoria’s even if you have to special order a 3x and don’t just use that razor on your legs in the shower (men will thank me for saying that, it had to be said). All women are beautiful, they are just told too often that they aren’t good enough, once they get past that, it’s all good.

ParticipantFlu, I think you are mixing up mpg and mph. The article is about 60 miles per GALLON, and it looks like you are against 60 miles per HOUR (you and Sammy Haggar).
There are bunch of inventors playing with fast and efficient, so you will get both. Where it would get tricky is trucks and collectible cars, they would have to just limit it to new production passenger vehicles, and 60 mpg by 2025 is actually a bit of a disspointment. Tesla got 100mpg’s equivalent and thats just a company of a few hundred who didn;t know dick about cars. Sure they didn’t pull it off exactly as expected, but big money can make it happen, and in just a couple of years. I think our government should intervene, now that it has it’s hands in the auto industry it should put all of it’s efforts into this, we are the biggest consumer of oil. Our landscape is spread out, we would benefit the most from double or triple the mpg’s, is NASA busy right now? Hook up NASA with Apple, get me my damned iCar right now, I want it fast/sexy like a tesla and I want it run my ipod seamlessly. BTW, the Damn germans and japanese manufacturers are only now making iphone friendly cars. My Ford is like 5 years old and it had an aux jack, I’m shopping BMW’s and they didn’t even offer it till 2007, no usb till 2008 and it was an option. A car is just a thing that drives my iphone around, I want it integrated into the stero. Infiniti, lexus, Mercedes, pretty much the same deal. So that is the deal, first car maker to make a car that gets 60 mpg’s, still has room and gets chicks, while seamlessly intergrating my phone, wins.

September 17, 2010 at 9:03 PM in reply to: 4S Mello-Roos will take 30 more years (2040) to payoff #606123temeculaguy
ParticipantThe irs wont bother with it, they really could care less because the dollar amount isn’t worth the labor costs. If someone has 1k a year of mello roos and 80% of it is deductable, yet they deduct the whole thing, then they deducted 200 that they shouldn’t have. It was not malicious, their bill would be a whole $50 to the irs, yet it cost the irs a grand in labor to deal with it, just not worth it. Same goes for your vehicle registration, you are supposed to subtract the non value based portion and deduct only the remainder, most people just deduct the dollar amount they see on their vehicle registration card in their glove box and the irs doesn’t really care.
Plus there are more people inflating their charity deduction than the mello roos folks.
They will likely just change the tax code to allow mello roos as a deduction, since it basically is treated that way now. They already changed the code to allow the deduction of PMI.
Mello roos sucks, but if you are a buyer of resale property, you can factor the payment, then figure the dollar cost and reduce your offer by that amount. If you have to pay the same amount for a mello roos house vs a non mello roos house, the go with the non, but if there is a discount because of it, if that discount makes the two houses cost the same as far as the monthly payment, then live where you want to live.
