ED, I was just alerted to this thread by a friend, I assure you carlsbadworker and I are not the same person. While an enticing social experiment, I am way too narcissistic to use two screen names for fear of losing credit. I’m also not a big fan of the WSJ, so much so that I didn’t even read the article because I’m so arrogant (I prefer the word confidant) that I can already assume what it says and it’s beneath me. Of course once the WSJ and Time and other sources say that housing is a bad investment, that’s when I think it is a good one.

temeculaguyParticipantOn a personal note, my vote is for kicking the can down the road just for a few more years. Like a lot of people, I was attracted to the tax free angle of savings bonds when they are used for higher education. I put about half my kids college funds in them. In about 90 days we are filling out applications for college. If those become worthless, cal state schools are their only option, good thing I have the only mail key, I can intercept any acceptance letters from pricier schools. Screw em, I went to a state school and I’m fine.
What was Judge Smails’ famous quote “the world needs ditch diggers too.”

Well then call me a globalist, as I drink a cab from chile out of a riedel from austria. In my defense, the chilean cab is owned by a california company. Which makes me wonder if there are blogs in chile complaining that all their profits go to california since we own most of their vineyards.
Seriously, as Americans, we need to travel internationally more because the other 96% of the world’s population bitches all day that we own everything and they actually have a point, unlike this thread.

temeculaguyParticipantI was quoted from 2008, my transformation is now complete. I went with a macbook pro almost a year ago. about the time I switched to the iphone4, and I’m happy as a clam. My employer provides me with the latest blackberry and pc laptop, hate em both, especially the blackberry, what a worthless piece of crap.
It’s not about speed or power, it’s lifestyle. I jog every day and listen to music, but it’s my lunch hour at work so I need to have my phone. The iphone is on my arm and switches to voice without missing a step. I will not jog with two devices and the other phones suck as ipods. In my car it is my xm and I have a skydock, I can’t live without it. The macbook and the ipad are similar in their design and function. Just give up, they win, resistance is futile.
