ParticipantI was struck hard the other night by my mortality. Was terrifying. Kind of like this…
Aubade
I work all day, and get half-drunk at night.
Waking at four to soundless dark, I stare.
In time the curtain-edges will grow light.
Till then I see what’s really always there:
Unresting death, a whole day nearer now,
Making all thought impossible but how
And where and when I shall myself die.
Arid interrogation: yet the dread
Of dying, and being dead,
Flashes afresh to hold and horrify.
The mind blanks at the glare. Not in remorse
– The good not done, the love not given, time
Torn off unused – nor wretchedly because
An only life can take so long to climb
Clear of its wrong beginnings, and may never;
But at the total emptiness for ever,
The sure extinction that we travel to
And shall be lost in always. Not to be here,
Not to be anywhere,
And soon; nothing more terrible, nothing more true. This is a special way of being afraid
No trick dispels. Religion used to try,
That vast, moth-eaten musical brocade
Created to pretend we never die,
And specious stuff that says No rational being
Can fear a thing it will not feel, not seeing
That this is what we fear – no sight, no sound,
No touch or taste or smell, nothing to think with,
Nothing to love or link with,
The anasthetic from which none come round. And so it stays just on the edge of vision,
A small, unfocused blur, a standing chill
That slows each impulse down to indecision.
Most things may never happen: this one will,
And realisation of it rages out
In furnace-fear when we are caught without
People or drink. Courage is no good:
It means not scaring others. Being brave
Lets no one off the grave.
Death is no different whined at than withstood.Slowly light strengthens, and the room takes shape.
It stands plain as a wardrobe, what we know,
Have always known, know that we can’t escape,
Yet can’t accept. One side will have to go.
Meanwhile telephones crouch, getting ready to ring
In locked-up offices, and all the uncaring
Intricate rented world begins to rouse.
The sky is white as clay, with no sun.
Work has to be done.

ParticipantIt’s difficult to live under the shadow of death. I’ve had this fear since 1979.
Probably the only thing we can do while we are waiting for the extinction of everything we are, have known and have loved, is at least to not waste the fish heads.

Participant

So, BG, families should tell their people “never submit to a sobriety test and spend the night in jail, mommy and daddy will sort it out in the morning”?
Well, my kid(s) don’t drink and drive. They do like to visit craft beer bars but there is a lot of cheap public transportation in SF and they know how to use all of it at all hours of the day and night.
If my kids were to be detained in MX or elsewhere out of the country, I have counseled them to say nothing except ask to make a phone call and call me ASAP so I can call the American consulate in that country and send help or even accompany that help (MX). Yeah, if that means spending the night in jail, so be it. I don’t think they have “Miranda warnings” in MX or elsewhere in the world :=0
It’s not a good idea to talk to law enforcement unless you are simply a witness and not suspected of breaking the law. I have told them that if they are brought in as a suspect for questioning, to refuse, demand counsel and allow themselves to be booked, instead.
I copied all my kids’ fancy new travel documents in living color last year when they came to visit specifically for the above reasons (and if they should land in the hospital in a foreign country).[/quote
Do not talk to the police.

ParticipantSounds like a pretty good case for the SEAL.
No alcohol test.

ParticipantOh right. I forgot about Los ranchitos and Santiago Estates. Those are nice also.
Definitely worth checking those out too.

Participant
Have you tried windex scaredy? My gum numbers have gone from 3-4 to 2-3 but I have no idea what I’ve done, if anything to cause it. It seems a little subjective to me so not sure if improvement is real. My dentist is finally having the dental technicians doing the cleaning (about time) he was digging down too deep in my opinion, creating pockets for bacteria to live in. One of the dental technicians has really small hands which I think is a really good thing in that line of work. By the way I am a big time sugar person so I don’t believe in the sugar theory. There is an herbal mouth wash from a plant that grows in Mexico but I don’t think the stores carry it. It’s a purplish color and will stop bleeding gums immediately when used, sorry don’t recall the plant it’s from.
Real estate, and mouths, are local. Every location is bacterially unique. Think of different girls you’ve kissed. Every mouth is like a different country.

Participant
Sounds like you need a deep cleaning. The dental hygienist should be able to tell you the depth of the pockets between your teeth and gum. If they are in the 4-5 range then that’s bad. Inflammation on the gum is a good indication that there are some deep pockets in there. If that’s the case you’ll either do a deep cleaning or floss/brush/rinse more regularly. I think the change in diet may help, but flossing daily and brush/rinse at least twice a day will probably produce better results.
Yeah, lots of 4s and 5s, 1st time I’ve heard that. Anecdotal evidence on Internet periodontal chat sites seems to indicate one can turn this around to 2s and 3s with some serious focused effort. I am dedicatedoing. I am motivated. I am on a quest to be my best.

Participant
What about just a gentle warm salt water rinse regularly?
This is a good idea.
There are 2 things going on.
Anti inflammation.
And killing bad bacteria that live off sugar.
The salt helps with the latter.
But fighting inflammation seems critical, not just to gum health but all over. Diet. And some healing substances when things are bad.
I think I believe in turmeric. And garlic. And mustard oil. And plain yogurt. And using coconut oil and baking soda as toothpaste. And flossing.

ParticipantSome is unavoidable. However I am starting to think gum disease are like bunions…avoidable with real lifestyle changes.

ParticipantThe pool is beautiful there. Let the HOA clean it. I hate dealing with my pool. Actually, now I remember making an offer on a perfect Meadowview house. On the meadow. Bid a little too low. Was so sad. Should’ve come in stronger. Then I’d be in Meadowview right now!!!
Wine country is OK but I prefer Meadowview.

ParticipantWe’re a mexi-jew couple in temecula with mexi-jew kids. No problems in 14 years.
Meadowview is where I wanted to buy but my wife said I was too messy for an HOA. It does look tidy. There’s nowhere quite like it in the area for smaller big lots.
Can walk to chaparral hs. Awesome.
OverallPerfect location IMO.

Not for sure. Imagine a pool of immigrants that exclusively commit crime to survive. That would be a drain, right.
That’s not the reality; and it is were it would be our common failure to provide opportunities making it so that people have to resort to crime. Human resources when not well managed become a drain.
I’m not dismissing individual responsibility, but the individual doesn’t exist independent of he whole.
People seem to have less value every year.
