Participant
Dont know about SD R but I have sold a few properties there this year and have another short near approval. Demand for entry level detached homes seems very strong up to 600K (both my lisitngs were under 600K). One sold for just over 500K several months back and probably could sell for 525K. The other is in the mid to upper 500’s and getting offers at list has never been a problem. Current buying has been hanging in for several months as its a nice house and fair value in tough price range. Barring any major system shocks, it seem slike a pretty stable market with plenty of demand at current prices for dettached entry level homes.
Inventory there has DOUBLED since January.

ParticipantI don’t have that much of a problem with these salaries considering the responsiblities, and they probably work very hard for them.
The timing is kind of questionable although does anyone really expect someone running for election to take a raise not long before the election?
I don’t believe them when they say they didn’t delay the raises because of the election. Telling us that the election had no bearing on the timing is the part that bothers me.

Participant
Heck my company does background checks and checks GPAs and verifies degrees issued – and has for more than a decade… so screwing up your first year of college CAN follow you for a long time.
How long? Verify degrees, but checking a GPA after someone has been in the work force awhile is a pointless, irrelevant exercise. What have they done with the degree is the relevant question.
I had good grades in college but there’s no mention of my GPA on my resume. Grades don’t mean a thing after years of experience. Anyone checking them on an experienced professional has too much time and too little common sense.

Participant
Maybe not in your neck of the woods but around me it is the norm. That is part of the big appeal around here.
Part of the reason given was split custody of kids.
Is your area so special that even the divorce rate is lower?
