ParticipantThere is nothing unethical about flipping or speculating on real estate. Buy low, sell high. So what? It is unethical for lenders to put people into suicide loans. It is unethical for the real estate industry and individuals to lie to buyers and sellers.

ParticipantWill someone please post specific directions for inserting a link so that people will only have to click on it?
Thanks!PD
ParticipantThat is funny!

ParticipantCarlislemattew’s post was a typical last word statement. It was a jab directed at bgates personally because carlislematthew has failed to refute bgates arguments.
Thank you, bgates, for your meaty posts. Everyone else is just shooting off the cuff but without anything substantive to back them up.PD
ParticipantI talked to a Coronado realtor today. I asked him if he thought a downturn was ahead. He tried to tell me that buying in Coronado was a safe bet but he also said many other things that led to me beleive that he thinks RE is going down. However, it was counterproductive for him to say so because he was trying to make a sale. He tried to dismiss bad press as a bunch of “Blah, blah, blah.” He did allow that waiting to buy wasn’t going hurt me (read – prices aren’t going up anytime soon). I asked him about Coronado inventory. He tried to downplay it but did admit that it is about double the average inventory. I’m wondering if it worse than that. He claimed the huge inventory was the result of a lot of people just testing the waters. I also asked him what happened to Coronado prices during the last downturn but he avoided answering. He seemed like a nice guy who doesn’t want to lie about a downturn but is also trying to keep the fear from spreading.

ParticipantWhy do people get so hung up on spelling? Relax.

ParticipantWow, this guy thinks the bad times could last a decade. I was thinking that RE would be turning up again in five. Could we be in for a meltdown like Japan? If that is the case, my son will be buying his first property at the bottom and he is only 10!

ParticipantI divided the current number of units for sale by the number of July sales.

ParticipantIt seems a little fishy that this old thread has been resurrected within hours of Docteur taking PS to task. Anybody else think it a little strange?

ParticipantDocteur, I really wish that you had not chosen to end posting. Your rational comments have been a positive addition to Piggingtons. I have also been the target of insults, both overt and veiled. I have chosen to laugh at them.
With the addition of the off topic forum, I was hoping that we could continue some previous discussions which I found fascinating. 🙁PD
ParticipantI also think Bush’s stance on stem cells is very wrong.

ParticipantBgates, thank you for your thoughtful, rational, fact filled posts. Many posters here do not like Bush and do not like our policy but have nothing substantive to say when pressed. They respond by mocking Bush with anecdotes about public gaffs and college grades. Personal attacks on him are their only weapon, as they cannot offer any solutions. The Middle East is a hotbed of problems and has been for a very long time (long before GW came into office). PS thinks we can reason with terrorists and make them our friends. That is her solution, which is pure folly and betrays her lack of understanding of what makes radical Islam tick.
Throwing up our hands and quitting is not the solution. I am not sure that everything we have done was the right course, but being weak now in the face of difficulty gives them more power and hope that they can outlast us.
If we could go back and change what we have done in the last five years, would our present be any better or more secure? I doubt it. The Iraq war did not create the problem. Some will say that it exacerbated it, but I take issue with that. We have not had any major terrorist bombings (etc) here by outside extremists since 9/11. They are engaged elsewhere. This issue is long standing, extremely complex and a real and ongoing threat to the safety of our nation and citizens. Yet so many people want to quit, give up because it is hard. Then, when we have been hit by another 9/11, those very same quitters will be the first to point fingers and demand, “Why didn’t we do something!” -
