ParticipantGot another NOD on Feb 10th. We paid the rent, likely just going to ride this out until April, make that our last rent and negotiate the security deposit for the last 2 months. I think we have much more time than that before a trustee sale. Looks like the landlord’s going to be a prick and just pocket my rent money. It’s the price I pay for the moral high ground, and I can live with myself. Not my problem if the landlord can’t.

ParticipantI also still have a rear projection that refuses to die. I’ve actually considered sabotaging it when my wife’s not looking so I can replace it with the awesome 65″ Sharp LCD.
I’m actually going to hold off until after the move this summer to DC, since on my last move the mover broke one of my TVs, which is how I got my first LCD. By the way, when movers break something you get a raw deal. They reimburse you for the depreciated value of whatever they broke, not replacement cost. To add insult to injury at the end of the year you are rewarded with a 1099 for the “income”.

ParticipantI thought the CNBC show was better, with this one being more of a history lesson, without really describing in detail what was going on. I did walk away feeling a little sorry for Paulson. It appeared, on the show at least, that he struggled quite a bit with some of those controversial decisions. I think his handling of the Lehman Bros bankruptcy demonstrated what he WANTED to do, but had enormous pressure not to do it.

ParticipantSamsung manufactued the TV both ways, and claimed the picture looked better with the reflective screen. A few of their models have flat (meaning non-glare) screens, but those are harder to find, and may only be 720P.
Someone earlier posted about compressed video signals. Amen to that. Cable feeds and even satellite are heavily compressed and it drives me crazy. The irony is the absolute best way to watch HD content is by free over the air digital signals. These aren’t compressed at all, and sports programs look FANTASTIC. It’s funny, I can’t stand basketball, but it looks so incredible in high def that I will actually watch it from time to time. You can count the floor boards in the court. The other best way, as was stated before is with high def disc formats like Blu Ray and HDDVD. I am hanging on to HDDVD with a passion, sort of like the old laser disc guys. HDDVDs can still be found for incredible bargains, and as long as the players I have to watch them on still work I intend to enjoy them.
