NavydocParticipant
Thanks for the great insider info PB, and it leads me to my question. Looking at all the charts available on line regarding the breakdown of the mortgages out there, isn’t there a substantially larger sum of money in absolute terms in the Alt-A market? All you hear on the news today is Subprime this, Subprime that (Fox News in the backround just said it twice), but don’t the Alt-A loans generally involve a lot more jumbos and ARMs used as affordability tools? It seems everyone I know in SD with a loan made in the last 3 years qualifies as an Alt-A. My mind is a medically trained one, not a finacial one, and I’ve been addicted to these posts the last few weeks trying the correct this deficiency in my knowledge base, and it seems that Alt-A has a much higher potential to dent the economy than the Subprime “crisis”.

NavydocParticipantGotta agree with Tone on this one. Since I’m military you can imagine I’ve lived in quite a few places, including 3 years in Japan, and I can’t wait to leave LA. Gotta put up with 2 more years though.

NavydocParticipantI found the place I’m currently living in less than an hour at http://www.westsiderentals.com. They charge a small fee of $60 for 2 months membership, but I found it well worth it. Much better than scouring local newspapers and ads. Also, craigslist has quite a few rentals. Good luck, and welcome to LA! Hope you like sitting in traffic. (much worse than San Diego)

NavydocParticipantOk, I admit it, I am bitter. But why shouldn’t I be? As Temeculaguy put it, I should be able to afford the kind of house she is advertising, but now I can’t, because I refused to buy with an option ARM, and now the prices are too high for conventional financing. I seriously have no idea how this is all going to shake out; anyone who says they do is fooling themselves. All I have left is the hope that I can pick over Dina’s skeleton or other’s like hers in a few years and actually afford the house I want. Unfortunately Dina has to die first.

NavydocParticipantWhy shouldn’t we gloat? Haven’t we had to deal long enough with people just like her telling us for years we are throwing our rent money away? For God’s sake she even says that again in the ad!
I know this situation shows how much trouble our economy is in, but I can’t help not feeling sorry for people like this.
