ParticipantI worry that professional thieves would recognize fake cameras. I don’t think the cameras are 100% effective but if I can deter 80% of potential break-ins then I would be happy.
Deter thieves? Fake cameras would do just as well. Real cameras might only catch them after the fact if they chose not to be deterred. Or were too cracked out to be afraid.
ParticipantSome body got a great deal here. Nice canyon view, three car garage and a pool. No street noise problem that many around houses here have.

ParticipantI agree prices are too high. For $700k, you could buy a decent property in Carmel Valley.

http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-120017066-4271_Calle_Mar_De_Ballenas_San_Diego_CA_92130Going to the I-15 is bad because you have to take MM blvd. But b/c Sorrento Valley blvd traffic is usually light and there are few intersections, it takes only about 5-7 minutes to get to the I-5S and 8-10 minutes to get to the I-5N.
woww for home with schools in mira mesa, the price is too high…The other problem is, this place is away from all the high ways…so it takes at least 15 minutes (up to 30 mins during peak hour) to get to I-15. It would take 10 to 15 minutes to go to I-5, It would take 10 to 15 minutes to go to I-805. It would take 20 minutes to go to CA-56…not a good location except that you will get the ocean breeze during summer.
ParticipantSo what is your proposed solution? Social Security and Pension funds have already failed miserably.
Most near retirement people in my company who saved at least 10% in their lifetime already have $500k to $1,000,000 in their accounts. With your house paid off, some social security, plus pension (yes, we have a pension at our company) one should retire nicely.

ParticipantHow about higher health insurance premium based on your body fat percentage, cholesterol level, blood sugar?

ParticipantWhat is your name? Young or Lee? I think in CA they will assume Lee is Asian. I think the Filipinos are lucky, they have Spanish surnames.
Will it matters if you don’t check the Asian box?

No issue here….
AN…. I’m not kidding about changing my kid’s last name prior to her entering H.S….Learn from this my friend… Asian americans get screwed in the U.S. and get screwed when we go overseas too….
Thank god I didn’t go to a U.C. school. All I need to do is to donate a few million to my alta mater, and my kid gets admissions into a private school, Ivy League style…. Just kidding…sort of…
Luckily, I don’t have to change my kids’ last name. There’s no way anyone can tell they’re Asian by their names.I don’t think it matters where you went. It only matter how much you donated. I remember getting a question on Stanford’s application asking “Do you see you family’s name on any building” :-D. Paul Jacobs spent his entire college career at UCB. I’m sure Ivy leagues would love to get his kids/grand kids.
I wonder if having heritage at a public university mean anything. What if both of your parents went there and they do donate some to the school.
ParticipantYup, you can clearly see the paper thin laminates rough edges in the cabinets. There are already dents and cracks in some of them.
The patios you see in #2 and #3 are options which could push the price beyond $700K.
The Master Bedrooms are a little small.
I like the Master Bathrooms.
The other problem I saw with these models is the quality of the cabinets. It’s horribly cheap. Even RTA are of much higher quality than these. They put their money on shiny GE Monogram appliances in the model to bring in the oohs and aahs, but the cabinets are cheap. The showers are still using white ceramic tiles.
ParticipantAveraging $100/month for three people with 6 fruit trees, flowers, and 300 sq ft of lawn. $60 of that come from fixed fees like basic water fees and sewer fees.

ParticipantEventhough home prices in China might go down significantly, you won’t see people walking away from their homes like in the US simply because at least 30 percent of the purchase price is required for a down payment and 50 percent for the purchase of a second home.

ParticipantI am terrible at haggling, especially for someone’s else car. I will try costco. Do you go to the Store or do it online?
Thanks,
Try costco. They sell at invoice +/- X where X varies depending on the car.
I have bought three cars using costco. Best way to go, I think. Then you don’t have to hunt for rebates, haggle, etc.
ParticipantMany riders are idiots. Every day I see a few examples of them lane splitting at high speed in relation to car traffic. They also zig-zag through traffic as if there are invincible. I also have seen some of them on one wheel. I think most motorcycle accidents are because of reckless riders.
Many riders go an entire lifetime without crashing. Many crash within months of starting.
A lot of it, not all, but almost all, is operator based.
