Participant
[q I don’t see why you would even THINK Bernie would have support in those areas.
This area is considered to be the epicenter of progressive & green politics in the US which Bernie wanted to be the champion of. Isn’t it?

Darrell Issa barely beat his opponent in yesterday’s primary for CA-49 congressional district (48.85%-47.86%). I would like to think that the Trump endorsement hurt him.
It will be interesting to see what happens between now and general election. This seat may be prime opprtunity for flip this November for Dems!

Participant
I just looked at the map of urban vs rural counties.
Clinton won where the population is more diverse, so I’m assuming Latinos, and other minorities. My intuitive tells me Latinos prefer la secretaria Clinton. Granted, Sanders has made a lot of progress, especially with native born Latinos. The polls were wrong. The race was not a tie. I was pretty confident Clinton would win california.
What is amazing is that Hillary won San Francisco county (55-43%), Santa Clara county (60%-30%), San Mateo (61%-38%), Alameda county (54%-46%), Contra Costa county (60-40), Solano County (57%-43%), Napa County (60-40), Sonoma County (51-49) & Marin County (51-47)
I thought the above counties were the epicenter of Bernie Voters. Hillary winning them by such margins makes me think that in reality there are a lot fewer Bernie voters than what you would expect by browsing on the internet, twitter, reddit etc. Otherwise I am at loss to explain this result!

Finally, as much as I don’t like Trump, there is one thing he did do that I am happy about. He caused the racists to come out of the closet. No more fake masks, no more pretending to be nice. We finally get so see how some people really are in real life.
I fully agree. What is someone’s reaction to Trump is now a great test for me to get an idea of their true moral values and character- something that can not be hidden behind fake smile and clever language. I suspect it will become the gold standard in future by which everyone will be evaluated.

Participant
That is good to know. It will make me vote for her. As a legal immigrant, I supported Trump’s position on illegal immigration issue. This country is supposed to one where people follow laws, which is why I wanted to immigrate here.
Here is an example of your hero’s respect for the judicial system and his view of legal immigrants and their children –

May 10, 2016 at 11:40 PM in reply to: The dire climate of CA public university admissions for freshmen #797457enron_by_the_sea
Participant
Mostly Asians are representing foreign public university students in CA BUT my beef applies to out of state of all races as well. It really isn’t a “race issue.” It’s a “resident issue.” These groups SHOULD be held to higher admission standards than in-state students and they used to be but their admission criteria was apparently “dumbed down” around 2008 in order for the UC to get their money.
If your beef is with out of state students of all races, then why your original message only talks about preventing “Chinese” students? Were you also expecting those English essays to stop enrollment of students from other states? or prevent someone applying from Canada or Western Europe?
I don’t think your concerns (about UCs admitting too many out of state/foreign students) are not valid, but you need to recognize that your motivation behind designing a system that only screen out applicants from China, strikes some of us as insensitive. (And it would not work any way because foreign students have excellent English skills too. You need to travel abroad some time!)
Asians are already very suspicious of college admissions processes, which many feel are covertly discriminatory against them. Your proposal unfortunately only feeds into that narrative of hidden/unwritten biases against asians in the system of college admissions….

That said, even though neither I, my family, anyone we know, nor, I’m guessing, most Piggs, will be noticeably affected by whomever is elected President
If I were you, I would be very careful in making such assumptions flyer.
What you are saying is true if a conventional politician like Clinton, Romney or Obama are elected because they are basically sane people.
When you have someone like Trump out there, you need be careful because if you like it or not our propsparity, real estate portfolios, stock investments, economy etc. are highly dependent on the faith that investors have that adults are running the show in the US. Take that confidence away and the system can collapse very fast.
So if I were you, I would be very worried about Trump’s first statement that he will renegotiate US debt when economy goes bad. Then two days later he basically says he will inflate his way out of debt. If the treasury markets starts believing such rhetoric (they are not believing it yet), the interest rates will go up fast and there goes all the real estate/stock/bond values.
If I am not saying this is what is going to happen. I am saying that it is naive to believe that we can put anybody out there and it will not make absolutely any difference to us!

ParticipantHamilton had one vision for America. Jefferson/Jackson had another. (At least as far as role of finance in society )
Many hundred years later America kept Hamilton on its bill and voted Jackson out from another bill!
Fascinating!

I think it will be Sen. Sherrod Brown. He will help with Bernie’s voters and it doesn’t hurt that he is from Ohio!
