DuckParticipant
I was hoping for NOD’s and NOT’s that would give info. on all the outstanding liens, maybe comps for the area etc., in a nice concise format. I can do better myself just looking at the Coast News and other free papers that post legal notices and cross referencing the MLS for the other info.
I agree the best way to go about buying one would be direct from the owner. No way I’m paying cash at an auction for a property that I can’t inspect. The only way I might do that would be something on or very near the water, but I’d be bidding against 100 other people that would probably bid it up higher than what you could have gotten it for 6 months earlier from the owner.
DuckParticipantThe animal cruelty comment comes from the quote in the article that he bragged/joked to someone that he didn’t even leave them water like that would make them manic and lead them to cause more damage in a fit of rage.

DuckParticipantI concur that I’ve seen more and more of it in Carlsbad/Encinitas. Carlsbad has a hotline where they will cover it up within 48 hours if it’s on public property. I’d like to see stiffer fines/penalties and also see the parents held responsible. I’m sure Jr. would think twice after spending a few weekends with Dad (or Mom) in Orange jumpsuits cleaning up on the side of road.

DuckParticipantPoor choice of words (paid for a free trial). You have to give your crdit card, but aren’t charged during the trial period which was 30 days I believe. Anyhow, their data was worthless and not up to date. Maybe they do a better job now, but this article sheds some light on their “numbers”.

DuckParticipantSdduuuuude,
Have you ever tried to use that home warranty? I have. Many times. They fix very little. Maybe if your microwave goes out, but they invariably have an out for even minor things. If you are talking structural, electrical, etc. on an older home, it’s not even worth the $50 service call to have someone look at it. It won’t be covered.

DuckParticipantAnimal cruely is disgusting. I’d like to put this guy and Michael Vick in a dog pit and the one that comes out alive gets prison for life.

DuckParticipantAsking if the loan broker gets paid is priceless.
No, he actually spends all his time soliciting loans for the good of the public. He just likes to get good deals for homebuyers. It makes him feel good inside.

DuckParticipantIt would be tough to list all the people and all the hours that went into that transaction only to have you cancel for what? Greed? Is $25,000 the price for your good name (assuming you have a good name to begin with I guess)?
As a seller I would call your bluff and hope you cancel because I know that if you are that greedy, then there’s no way you’re walking away from the $5,000 plus the cost of your appraisal and home inspection. Plus there’s probably a spouse that will be really pissed at you. I also wouldn’t want a jerk like that moving into my house to begin with unless I really hated my former neighbors.
