    Dude,
    I cant believe your looking for advice on a realestate site. But, I’ll tell you this. Your a genius. Great timing. I sold in 04, pocketed $700,000. Moved the hell out of CA to avoid the crash. Fortunately, wife agreed and went with me. If she is pissed after you pocketed $500,000. She will never be happy. Get rid of her. Especially if you have no kids. PS. Start hiding some cash to safety deposit box.

    It’s amazing how many are advocating hiding cash. Don’t you need to declare everything under penalty of perjury in case of divorce?

    My guess is that this site is taking your attention away from her being miserable.. misery wants company and probably influence too… she might just want to disagree with whatever you say to argue and win, but this site has it’s hooks into you and you’re debating with her less in your silent sense of housing-decision confidence.

    I believe some problems are almost unfixable and become especially hard when nostalgia is sacrificed in the solution.

    Since you have 500k sitting around.. go buy a cabin on Palomar Mountain, they’re really cheap and the supply isn’t that high anyways.. or you can go to some other remote semi-vacation/relaxation area.. maybe an inexpensive retreat like this will help repair things..

    Chances are it is not about the house. It’s about her… and you. Go get counseling if you still have feelings for her. Go get a good attoney if you don’t.

    If it would help at all to show your wife hard data about sales prices then many of us on this site can provide it for you. There are a few realtors here like myself who can email you data straight from the MLS which shows clear downtrneds…Perhaps showing her the data would help…. In my own world sometimes (okay alot of times) I dedicate to much time to my jobs, and even sites like this and I know that irritates my wife….

    I would agree with most of the statements…in response to your posting. I would presume there are more deep rooted issues…Hang in there…
