“best friend” is a little strong. that’s the problem with marriages; they are parenting vertures, financial partners, “friends”, isolated from other family often. there’s just way too much pressure on a couple in a modern relationship. that’s why i say cut out the friend part. Keep it limited to parenting, finances and sex. and general caretaking.
now that i think about it, one of the things i am attracted to in lawyering is the strong duty of loyalty involved. It’s not so apparent from the outside, but lawyers have a duty that is actually pretty uncommon in normal life. Duty of layalty. it’s pretty intense, really.
