We’ve never lived next to a _big_ public school, and that may be what you are talking about. Caution does make sense, and spending some time there during pickup and dropoff is a great idea.
However, I’ve lived next to a pre-school (maybe 60 kids) and a smaller elementary school (200-300). In both cases, I thought it was awesome that the overall population density was a bit lower than a street filled with houses and that it was almost guaranteed to be quiet and low-traffic _at night_.
Just something else to think about.
Cheers,

Let’s say that those houses go for $1.4M, then maybe, you should consider it because:
– The discount that you get might be worth the hassles of living next to a school.
– When you sell, you’ll have to sell for less, but that’s OK because you bought it for less.December 15, 2009 at 12:35 PM #494451gnParticipantYou need to ask your realtor what the houses of similar size/floor plan in that neighborhood that are not close to the school go for.
