I would agree with your presumption.
Political leaders should at least try to understand the issues (economics, climate change, etc..) before jumping to conclusions.
Brian: Thanks for the response, and I wanted to get your take before proceeding.
So, well-educated correlates to well-intentioned and right thinking. Taken further, you agree that it also informs one’s decision-making and provides the basis for Right versus Wrong principles.
That said, and ceteris paribus, are certain things inherently Wrong (capital W) in your opinion? And, I ask that question given your position as a Progressive. Are certain things ALWAYS Wrong, no matter what?
I also ask because you’ve argued, and with certain validity, that there are those on the Right who have pushed ideas, agendas and even wars on America and have been wrong for so doing. Following that logic, then, are you arguing that certain things ALWAYS Wrong?

“Don’t wrestle with pigs. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it”.
My corollary: If you are going to wrestle with pigs, don’t bother trying to do it cleanly. You will loose and the pigs won’t respect you anyway.
Ah, yes, ad hominem. Always the thing to use when the facts desert you. Or, you don’t know what facts are. Favorite tool of coprophagic little Leftists the world over.
And, you will “loose”? Really? I think you meant “lose”, Champ. Out sick the day they taught English at your school?

Yes, certain things are always wrong.
But… sometimes, in extreme circumstances, the end justifies the means. It doesn’t help to be right and dead (dead right). You need to live to fight another day.
