I’m from the midwest and came to So Cal. What you guys call horrible weather is awesome to me, though I never really venture to any area by the 15 or east of it. I’m usually by the 5 or west. So I don’t know what you guys are talking about, I’ve never even seen an Applebees here. This weekend on the coast it was sunny, but the breeze was so cool it was like having your own air conditioner. It was heavenly this weekend!
How come no one ever complains that you can’t get any puerto rican food in SD? You can’t even get Puerto Rican spices, I’ve never seen that before. I wouldn’t go on a tirade about how SD sucks because of it though 😉 [/quote]
I’m talking tornadoes and humidity in Illinois. I travel a lot on business, but I’ve never been to Chicago during the winter…just heard my mom talk about it. Went to NYC once when it was -25 not including wind factor, and I couldn’t open my mouth because it made my teeth ache horribly.
We used to spend two weeks every summer in my Nana’s finished attic. Little kids are pretty adaptable, but me and my sibs used to wake up in a pool of sweat.
ib–you have to remember that most of us here in So Cal are terrified of tornadoes because of the Wizard of Oz. I take care of an elderly relative who lives in central Illinois and one day, while taking care of her business, the sirens went off when I was in a 7-Eleven type store. I said, “What should we do?” and the clerk said, “Well, if we see the funnel, we all just go to the bank and get in the vault.”
Oh, and whoever mentioned Applebee’s. That’s the nicest place in my relative’s town. I’ve been there on prom night and don’t know whether to be happy or sad.

ParticipantYou can get Puerto Rican spices here. They have them at the produce store in Grantville right off Friars Rd down the street from the Kaiser on Vandeveer.
