ParticipantTuVu instead of being in a reactionary state, sit with yourself and feel where your heart really wishes to be.
🙂
I lived north of the bay area for two and a half years in Guerneville (which is in western Sonoma County) among the redwoods near the Russian River. Our second winter there we got over 100 inches of rain. For a stretch of time it rained for 30 days in a row.
It was beautiful, yes, magical in the trees.
But there is magic here in the sunshine at the beach as well.

ParticipantSan Diego is an over-rated, gawd-awful, hellhole. Everyone says the weather is great here, but most parts of San Diego are like living in a sauna. People here tend to be uneducated and culturally inept. Unless you like hanging out in tourist traps with pasty white tourists, or eating at generic restaurants like Applebees, there really isn’t much to do here.
San Francisco on the other hand is a like cultural beacon of light. People there tend to be highly educated and in tune with the latest happenings in the world of fine arts and culture, in addition to being on the bleeding edge of technology. There are so many cool restaurants, art exhibits, and shows there that one will never run out of things to do.
It seems like most people I’ve met in San Diego just weren’t able to make it in San Francisco or the Bay Area and had to settle for a life here. It’s gotten to the point where I assume that every new person I meet in San Diego is generally a loser. I’ve encouraged every San Diegan I know to move to the Bay Area lest they become trapped in a life of mediocrity.
TuVu, I encourage you to move to San Francisco. I think you’ve come to the realization that you are way too dynamic for a redneck town like San Diego. Actually, I think all Piggs have the chops to make it in San Francisco and should give it a shot. I’d move up there myself, but I know my head would explode from all the cultural learnings. Nope, my place is in San Diego with the rest of the short bus riders. Don’t end up like me Piggs, move to San Francisco before it’s too late for you.

ParticipantOh the old Northern California is better than Southern California and vice versa rivalry/debate rears it’s ugly head
lol
Can’t we all just get along
We did run into that intellectual superiority issue at times up north and being intellectually superior than most ourselves (lol) we fit right in. That is why we moved south. (We knew people up north who could not fathom why it was we would choose to leave and move south).
Both are beautiful and both suck for different reasons. It is all what you choose to put your attention on that matters and that informs you version of reality.
