I’ve always loved the Bay Area more so than S.D. I like the rush-go go go attitude and the general push to be innovative and do new things (at least in my field).
For activity, there’s probably more places one can go too, because there’s the marin county stuff, Tahoe’s not to far away for winter, sacramento isn’t too far for great water rafting in the summer..It’s close to where there’s a nice race track in sonoma where there’s Skip Barber classes.
I would say that from a quality of life with a family, it would be better here in S.D. Too many days with too much overtime…And these days I’d prefer to spend time with my kid.
Still I have dreams of returning to SF one of these days if my side company ever takes off. I’m pretty much hitting the glass ceiling here in S.D. wrto by career. Short of moving into a director level position (not gonna happen, I’m not really going to be advancing much in any position in S.D. Oh well.
Side note…If you’re a single male and already have problems getting laid in San Diego… good luck getting any in the Bay Area. (no disrespect intended to the women on this board…there’s no other way to put it bluntly)

Thanks for the good thoughts. I know this isn’t oprah.com, but I feel them, I tend to get blue at this time every year beause for all my life September — not January — has been the “start” of
the new year. Back to school. Then I have a kid whose b-day is August 25th. Yep, on Monday she’ll no longer be a teen. She’s now a college junior, The hubby and I are not moving. That may change in two years when the kid has to go to grad school in Portland, OR. Who knows what is gonna happen. Thank again.August 24, 2008 at 2:31 PM #261281TuVuParticipantEnorah–

Do you mean tiring of living near the hyper self-focused “hippsters” in SF who were fed with silver spoons and supported by mom and dad until their mid 30’s?
Or, maybe having to roll my eyes too many times at the radical leftists in SF and Berkeley, the most paranoid bunch of people I ever met–nearly all of whom are anti-American and most of whom are anti-Semitic?
Hillarious. Hack what in San Francisco?
SF is one of the softest cities in the country (you know the song, right?), over-flowing with spoiled, rich kids–nearly all of whom have never run a business, supported a family, or lived in the real world. Of that group, many of them will never hold a private-sector job in their entire lives.
Other than that, yes, it is a great city (location, weather, things to do, etc.)
I visit it often.
