One random wild guess I have is that with the falling dollar it will not be as cost-effective to manufacture overseas… So they can get jobs sewing socks, inspecting underwear, assembling parts, etc… the bears will still need someone to put together their socks and underwear and tvs and toys… so I’d say polish up those sewing skills!
I don’t know if all of this is wishful thinking though, that is, wishing that the mofos who put us in this mess are now screwed. Are we gloating?

February 22, 2008 at 10:12 AM #157566BoratParticipantSo anyone want to take a stab at what will be the next thing to be doing workwise? We’re going to have a lot of realtors, loan officers, appraisers looking for work. They’re all not going to be saying “May I take your order.” What’s going to be the next easy, good paying job?
Also all the construction workers and contractors. I’m guessing a lot of them will head back to Mexico but for those who can’t, what are they going to do now? There are more of these guys than there are mortgage brokers and appraisers…

More than likely they will find some other industry and while it might take six monhts to a year to build up a client base the more determined ones will be selling something different. You sort of have to accept that this is going to happen if you are in sales.
I personally try to use a 4 year average so any great year is forwar averaged so that I can not only control spending but simultaneously ahve a solid reserve to fall back on. I don’t think that this is unusual.
