What is SOL? I’ve searched online using ‘tenant,’ ‘landlord,’ etc., as keywords but no luck.
SOL – sh** outta luck.Or in cleaner terms – Sadly out of luck.
Or in a different context – statute of limitations. But, given the context, I’d go with Sh** outta luck.

People who paint walls psychedelic colors ought to be shot. The house was owned by a Hispanic family that liked bright colors.
Brian – I doubt you’re seriously suggesting that a family that OWNS a home not be allowed to paint the walls any color they want? And I hope you’re not making any racist stereotypes here….
If you bought the home, with lime green walls, you knew what you were getting.

ParticipantI would go for the goodwill, in a low-end way.
Buy a bunch of those ant traps and offer them up to the tenant.
Explain that surfaces must be kept super clean, and that water must not be left dripping… Explain that the onus is on the tenant to prevent ant infiltration.

ParticipantYeah… those descriptions are geographically wrong.
Not sure how you can say Santaluz is coastal and Clairemont is inland. Are there ocean view homes in Santaluz? There sure are in Clairemont.

Participant
I’m sure this is not news and I won’t go into details except to say that defense is getting hit pretty hard right now in San Diego.
One local company has filed a WARN notice.http://www.edd.ca.gov/jobs_and_training/warn/eddwarnlojd12.pdf
BAE is set to cut 77 people.
(Cuts less than 50 people in 1 month don’t require WARN notice.)Another regional cut, not defense related…

ParticipantInteresting story on CNN.com
http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/22/opinion/prewitt-rapist-visitation-rights/index.html?hpt=hp_c2About a woman who was raped, had the baby, then had the rapist sue for parental rights.
Yep… that is seriously messed up.
She became a lawyer to fight against rapist’s having parental rights.
In a paper she wrote (linked in the article) she cites studies that show alarming statistics on how many women over age 18 have been raped. It’s one in 12.
And from that pool – almost 5% got pregnant from the rape. The two studies that looked at this do not include rapes of minors… so the statuatory rape not being “legitimate” rape thing is not relevant in these statistics.
Here’s the link to the paper w/ the statistics.

Regardless, BMW’s are status symbols.
Even though they appear to be common, the reality is that most people cannot afford to drive a BMW.
Even an older less expensive BMW will generally need more maintenance than an appliance car, and on top of that they cost more to fix.
I just paid $97 to have my oil changed in my BMW.
An oil change for a camry or f-150 can be done for $30 bucks or less.

And I completely agree it’s not just BMW that costs $100 for an oil change. And I also agree that most BMW’s are leased or pre-owned.
My 328 was about the same cost as a new Corolla with 36k miles; but it ain’t no Corolla that’s for sure.
I’m confused.
BMWs are status symbols,
But they’re common.
They are expensive for oil changes.
But so are a lot of other cars.
And they cost the same as a corolla.
But they’re status symbols.for the record – I don’t own either a bmw nor corolla… so I have no dog in this.
I just find it funny how in just a few posts someone can argue that BMWs are status because they’re expensive and that they’re NOT to be compared to corollas, then say the price is comparable to corollas. No need to respond. Like I said – I don’t have a dog in this.

ParticipantHoly crud.
The 28k/year I was paid out of college is looking pretty lame. (That’s wasn’t for Q, but for another local company.)
A friend started at Q in the mid 80’s and was making about $33k. Her pay accelerated as she rose the corporate ladder.

ParticipantThey’re freaking me out too.
It’s like they skipped basic biology and are clueless about the real world.
Hopefully their wives, sisters, daughters, mothers will talk to them about what idiots they are.August 21, 2012 at 2:46 PM in reply to: realtors, public database divers, etc… Is there a way #750624UCGal
Participant
There’s this from the county recorder but I don’t this it’s what you want. You can search by a partial street name (i.e. enter “a” in the street and you’ll get every record where the street starts with A).

That’s the database I found the parties in.
(did a grant deed search on the name.)
so now I have party names, and date… but am curious about address.I’m going to give up – I don’t want to be a stalker.

ParticipantI put it in the fluff category.
They tend to make broad, sweeping generalizations and state them as if they were fact, rather than opinion.I’m not a fan, overall.

Participant
Have you tried this database?
http://www.sddt.com/Databases/HomeSales/%5B/quote%5D
that was a good resource…
Unfortunately there are 74 transactions that day and unless you are a paid subscriber – you can only look at 10…
No matter how I sorted – I couldn’t get the record I was interested in.Darn it.
Thanks though!

Good link.
That’s basically what we’ve done to our house with the bolts and what they call sheathing, but my husband called sheer walls.Lots of anchors/hangers/bolts/brackets… and corners (and a few interior load walls) stiffened with plywood.

Participant

I compost tons, literally. No worms… except as provided by nature. Works fine.
Yep. I have a ton of red worms in my compost bin.
Add me to the list.
Makes “black gold”…
And as a bonus we have tomato and basil plants growing from the side of the compost bin… Beyond healthy… Made pesto last weekend and it appears the basil regrew everything we cut. -
