ParticipantI think that it depends on the terms of use of the service. If the MLS allows diclosure to potential clients, then all of us here are potential customers, aren’t we?
I don’t see anything wrong with disclosing information because all of it is public anyway. Technology now makes it easy. But otherwise, you can always go to the County Recorder’s office to dig around. In that respect, I think that technology is democratizing. In the past, only people “in the business” with subscription access to databases had access to the data — they had a competitive advantage.
The data is used for analysis and not to spy on neighbors. Like I say, if one really wanted the info, a trip to the County Recorder’s office will reveal it.
If people value their privacy, they should take steps to cover their transactions.
waitingtobuy, if you’re really serious to buy, you should subscribe to a service like realtytrac.com. The subscription fees are well worth it if you really want to buy. Or work with a Realtor (discount or full-fee) and he’ll give you all the info you want.
Personally, I think that it’s useful to have data independent from your sales agent because you’ll know it if he tries to lead you astray to a listing that he’s pushing.

ParticipantGet really to see 100,000 to 200,000 Iraqi refugees coming to America. There are now 4,000,000 refugees? All caused by our intervention. They didn’t leave their country under Saddam and now they are fleeing for their lives. We brought freedom, huh? Good job!@#
It’s our responsibility and we’ll have to accept the largest share of refugees.
SDowner, think of it in broader terms. We are all one human race. Some people have it hard, some other have everything handed to them on a silver plater. Don’t you think that the hardship of toiling for years as illegals is enough paying of the dues?

ParticipantAfter so many years in SD, I still don’t understand the Mexican food culture. The only thing I like is the clear meatball soup with lime juice. Sorry, but Mexican food is the surest way to get a big belly (that and Southern food).

ParticipantI happen to love Michael Moore. I’ll go see his movie just to support him.
Sure, he’s like the liberal version of Rush Limbaugh and Rush is also rich and fat. Rush is a hypocrite drug abusing, philandering bastard. In that way he’s like most of his listeners. I know because our company used to sponsor Rush. He does bring in a lot of fanatical customers. Good for the pocket-book 🙂
Personally, I think that progressives have been too polite and meek for too long. The right likes in-your-face politics. Let’s give them what they dish out everyday. And let’s make money at it too. Why not? That’s the American way.

Participantok, jg, you win.
Your Republican friends will never enforce anything against employers. You can bet on that. Since 1986, how many employers where jailed?
I know of enough small business owners who regularly employ illegals. The funny thing is that they vote Republican, but the lure of saving some bucks and pad their bottom line is too great. Afterall, how do they otherwise afford the McMansion?
It was a sad day for human rights. Sigh. Unfortunately, I don’t see immigration reform for another 6 years. The incoming Democratic president is unlikely to do anything in the first term.

ParticipantI like San Diego now a lot better than in the 80s. We now have more diversity and have the critical mass to be a world class city.
I was dissappointed that we didn’t get a bi-national airport that would turn the San Diego/Tijuana region into the first cross-border metropolis.
I’m glad to see Downtownn turn into a much nicer place. San Diego needs a new airport and some striking Downtown landmark that would turn us into a world class city like Sydney, Australia.

Participantjg, did you have pre-marital sex with your wife or anyone else? (just joking :)).
For me Catholicism was just tradition but did not mean a lot. Dad warned me at a young age to not believe everything the church said and never to take anything at face value. He also talked politics to me when I was 5.
Catholic mass is beautiful but the Church is all about money — money for this, money for that, and big bucks when you die.

ParticipantI didn’t realize that San Antonio and Phoenix were bigger than San Diego. Now I know.
