I still think that our society thinks they we are entitled to have everything right now. I understand housing is out of control, but it was only ten years ago, when I wasn’t making the salary that I make now, and I managed fine. I certainly didn’t have all of the nice things I have now, but I managed just fine with the basics.
When I was growing up we had 1 car, 1 TV, my mom hung the laundry out to dry, etc. Now a days obviously 1 car isn’t reasonable, but how many people do you know that have more than one vehicle per person in a family? I know a lot, myself included. What about computers, TV’s, VCR’s all that crap, one in every room, that is total over indulgence. Don’t get me wrong, I’m guilty of it, but I live within my means.
Our culture needs to take another look at itself, and maybe this big downturn, if it happens will be a good thing.novice1027ParticipantWell that makes sense.
Thanks for your help, otherwise I’d still be here trying to type it every which way.novice1027ParticipantYeah, I couldn’t get mine to come either, but I figured maybe that was because I have lived here for 15 yrs. One of those people that wouldn’t sell my house with a gun to my head!
The one I have been tracking doesn’t come up in Zillow, I thought maybe because it is such a new developement.novice1027ParticipantDon’t you think most of this has to do with the fact that, in gerneral, people have turned into instant gratification junkies? What ever happened to seeing something, deciding you want it, saving for it, then enjoying it, knowing how hard you worked to get it?
Maybe this big implosion will get everyone back to some sense of normalcy.
Maybe I’m just turning into my mother, lolnovice1027ParticipantOUCH!
That’s gotta hurt, especially since it has been sitting empty this entire time.
Thanks for your help, I’m a goof ball, I wasn’t using capital letters for the address.novice1027ParticipantThanks for the link, but I get the same bunch of nothing as I do when I checked on property taxes. I can’t figure out why I can’t get any info. There are 3 different houses on the same street. Does it have to do with it being a new developement? That doesn’t make any sense to me, but that isn’t necessarily a suprise, lol
novice1027ParticipantThat’s interesting. That was one of the things I told my husband when we were looking at those homes, was I would never buy a house next to an empty lot without knowing what would be there in the years to come.
I keep learning more everyday about this real estate world.
Thanks.novice1027ParticipantI looked at the homes in Bressi Ranch back in January. It was my first experience looking at new homes, so hence the stupidity in giving out my phone number, but I have received 2 phone calls in the last 3 days, with “very exciting offers, but hurry, because they are going fast!”
HAHAHA!novice1027ParticipantMy husband & I just looked at those houses in Del Sur last weekend. Most of the yards were the size of postage stamps. Then we went down to see the homes at the far end of the community starting at 1.3 mil and up. They were nice houses, with big lots, but the HOA start at $330/mo, add taxes, plus if you want you can join their health club/resort to the tune of $250/mo. But not to worry they cover the annual fee for you.
Between the HOA and taxes, you will be paying $2,000/mo for the rest of your life, not including your mortgage. CRAZY!

Just a reminder!
novice1027Participant“member #2” It sounded to me like sdr was trying to pay you a compliment. Just the community voice…
novice1027ParticipantI guess the take away message here is… if we have an uncontrolled problem with black nipple hair, we should be using a psedonym. I’m sorry but that cracked me up!!
Now I can say I have definetly learned something on this site.novice1027ParticipantCall me Kooky…
I knew lots of people used the ARM’s to get into houses they couldn’t afford, but I had no idea that someone would be crazy enough to change a fix-rate mortgage to cash out and then screw themselves with a ARM, WTF?????
Are you serious, people really did this?novice1027ParticipantSDR,I hope that the “lie” comment wasn’t taken personally. Not my intention. Just a little side to comment.
I guess that’s one of the reasons I don’t always like this type of interaction, inflections in one’s tone can be totally misread.
I also very much enjoy your post. -
