I’m a long time reader but I agree that lately there has been too much religion and politics. I used to like to read the forum posts for the helpful information about the real estate market. I’ve noticed the quality is slipping. I think I will just check in for Rich’s posts from now on.Same DGH? The one that is above all of this low quality stuff, welcome to the fray or mind your own business take your pick. What will it be?
Personally I would like to hear your enlightened thoughts on these topics.
Here is my disclaimer that was posted a few pages back in this thread.
“This forum is a little like “toast masters” for me…just practice and experimentation with language and ideas. For instance, now I can spell syntax correctly and own the word in my vocabulary. Same with demagoguery.”I don’t see where I said my purpose was to express intolerance for Christians. I realize intolerance is not a viable option. However I have my views, which I aquired not from some marketing source but by years of observation, courageous introspection and critcal reading & thinking. How you could confuse me for elitist totally escapes me. How did you come to that conclusion? The sophistication thing was partly true and partly a poke at someone. If you had read previous post you would have know that.Maybe you think only the elite have anything sophisticated in the gray matter? I admit I am a pretty ordinary guy.
I am also in my right to say that I have experienced a lack of nuance and circumspection in others arguments and that posters flat out avoid direct questions where their fallacies/prejudices would be exposed by answering them.Look just a few posts up this thread, where is 4runner? Where is FSD to answer the question “why would the Islamic world stop attempting to harm us just because we pull out of Iraq? What of JG’s bullying tactics in which he premptively decides that unimpeachable evidence has been displayed on one topic or another and calls every body a bunch of girls? Who could debate with an authoritarian like that? Yes, of course, I make obvious logic mistakes all the time. I am one of the few, more opinionated vocal posters, who admits when he blows it.
Have a great day.

Participant“If we can all agree that the little angels are NOT “special”, and that teacher IS the authority, the problems will go away. It doesn’t have anything to to with the schools being public.”
We had quite the discussion on this in another thread. We are a lazy indulgent and apparently finger pointing do nothing society. I agree with you completely BTW. Education minded kids might have less births that they are not ready for. We don’t seem to really care if the kids are education minded or have good schools as long as they are not ours and for that we are part of the problem.

ParticipantIs It a custom home or a developement? I am a general contractor Alex. If the job is production it will usually be plumb and level but slapped together. If it is an independent builder it might be tighter work a little extra cement in the foundation ect.Be there the day they pour the slab and make sure they pull the rebar up into the slab(lots of times the finishers just smash the rebar into the dirt). a couple of guys should be walking around with hooks pulling the rebar up.The crew should be working the cement into the footing with either vibrating equipment or serious manual prodding. Make sure they are not faking it. Check the walls for firmness around entry doors. If they are shaky the door movement will crack all the surrounding building components and the house will feel cheap.Make sure the put blocks in the walls where all built-ins go, especially kitchen cabinets. Make sure the attic is ventilated properly. Tighten the anchor bolts again right before drywall. The wood plates shrink and the bolts will be loose. If he has an option for copper pipes and sprinkler system he should put that in. I guess plastic pipes are used pretty regularly now for potable water and sprinklers. The stuff normally used for sprinklers is going to get brittle and crack in a few years time and people will be turning the sprinkler sytems off. I paid $1,500 extra for all copper in the sprinkler system. tell them to install back wired commercial grade receptacles and switches.Put in a hot water return line from the furthest fixture to the water heater and insulate it or else it will take forever to get hot water there. Forget about this if it is going to have a tankless water heater. Keep a very close eye on any water proofing work interior showers, bathroom floors over wood, and around chimneys windows doors balconies ect. Also install rain gutters immediately. Rain gutters and drainage away from the house are the most important elements in a house aging well.use the highest quality roofing underlayment and maybe have them double it. Do not do a code minimum on this item. Don’t let anyone tile to drywall or plywood anywhere.Make sure they put a slip sheet over any “drying cracks” in the foundation where tile goes.

ParticipantWhat great articualtion on fraud and errors did you provide? In my opinion you responded with a link more and worse propaganda. As drunkle pointed out, the mere references used are enough to conclude that the piece was a biased knee jerk defense . I guess two wrongs make you right? Is there the possibility of a correct way,in your opinion, to debunk the Jesus story, or at least the mythologies and dogmas created and perpetuated from it? Or are you going to hold steadfast in your belief no matter what? Actually of the two items, your link and the movie, the movie was more convincing. The plagiarism and astronomy stuff makes a lot of sense, especially as related to the theory of miracles performed by Jesus. My bias, I am a natural born skeptic and big fan of “The Age of Reason” by Thomas Paine which was quoted in the movie.
