Just so there’s no confusion, you 2 are claiming that Trump has caused and/or exacerbated the coronavirus by cutting the CDC budget and elimination of a pandemic response team.
Care to provide a link with the data to support this claim?
I may have gotten ahead of myself on the actual budget cuts. Most of them are proposed by the administration but overruled by Congress.
But in general, the administration has been doing everything in the Executive Branch’s power to attack agencies that are not pro-business/pro-Trump, etc. Actions include not fill positions, when filling positions, adding political appointees with no relevant experience, overruling experts, etc.MyriadParticipantPretty sure Trump’s plan is to ignore it. If it becomes a problem, deny it and complain about the media. That way, it will just spread and no containment is needed.
Since the administration cut funding for the CDC, there’s limited testing available and no pandemic response team to counter that there really is a pandemic. Also solves problems for SS and Medicare if it spreads to FL & AZ retirees and prisons.
MyriadParticipantAnyone else stocking up on supplies?
Figure two weeks worth so you don’t have to go to any stores.MyriadParticipant
IMO containment is lost at this point.
Well, it’s still contained on EarthMyriadParticipant500 Chinese prisoners infected with Covid-19
One way to get rid of prisoners. Think of the billions of $ we could save in the US, if we did the same thing.
MyriadParticipant
Of course what they’ll do is round up everyone with any respiratory symptoms, novel corona, the flu, or the common cold. Put them all together, so that the folks with the flu and common cold will also now have corona.
Well, it is one way to solve the problem and remove the quarantine. If everyone already has had the Coronovirus, then there’s no need for any protection measures.
Problem Solved!MyriadParticipantAll infected people in Wuhan being ’rounded up’

MyriadParticipantProbably some accurate accounting, finally…
15k new cases and 245 deaths since yesterday.MyriadParticipantI’m sure this is why there is a concern about Huawei.
The US usually get’s worked about this kind of stuff because we’ve done it already and know the same thing can be done by China or Russia.
It’s no coincidence this story came out the same time as the Huawei exploit of the law enforcement tapping override.MyriadParticipant
Until Trump gets us on a war with Iran that will cost 5x iraq.
Isolationist is not bad except we will need to bottle up our badass American pride, be less influential around the world, become a big Sweden perhaps?
Nah, Trump isn’t going to invade Iran. He can beat them on the cheap by using EMP weapons and letting people starve since there won’t be any transportation or electricity. Then he could get his rich friends to go in and take all the oil for the US (oh wait, I mean for themselves).
As to US becoming isolationist. I certainly think there would be a lot more large regional conflicts as other countries would welcome the power vacuum. But eventually, the US will get dragged back into a world war.
MyriadParticipantI would certainly believe 10x the official # of dead. At least it would be match the level of response of quarantining 60M people. I’m sure someone smart is figuring out how many people have died if crematoriums are running 24/7.
MyriadParticipant
On the other hand, I suspect we won’t have that many cases from all the evacuees sent to Miramar since most of them are quarantined a good distance from other people
The Russians are sending people to Siberia. Probably the only time people willingly go to Siberia, LOL!
The word going around is the quarantines in the cities in China are being done to isolate.tje most infected people to let them die in the city. The word is the People’s liberation army has been already sent there to ensure order, not necessarily to relieve health care workers, and media/reporters are being turned away and censored so they can’t report on what is going on.
The are rampant rumors that the dead in Wuhan are being sent to crematoriums that are running 24/7. Not sure I entirely believe this, but hey, who knows the real info at this point…MyriadParticipant
Doctor that tried to alert people of this virus early on but was silenced by the government has died.
Can’t even get straight info that he died.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/06/whistleblower-chinese-doctor-dies-from-coronavirusThere probably over 100k cases between under-reporting, people not sick enough to get treatment, and delay in data.
UK, Canada, and UK advising all citizens to leave China. Wonder if they anticipate all passenger transport to/from China to be shutdown soon.
MyriadParticipantCarry a 5 Gal jug of chlorox with you at all times.
