ParticipantIt’s ashamed you killed it. I use the shovel scoop them into a large trashcan and relocate them later.

Participanti too think Zimmerman profiled Martin, but not racially. I think any young man wandering around the neighborhood in the rain at 2am is odd and suspicious.
I tend to be up pretty late, and I was sitting on my porch around 1 am having a smoke when a young black kid rode by on a skateboard. I thought it was off he was out so late, but didn’t think anything about it UNTIL he stopped and started to look in someones car window. It happened to be a house who’s car ha been broken into earlier that week. At that point I called the cops. From all the transcripts I have seen, this was very similar to the Zimmerman deal. Now let’s see who calls me a racist.

Participant
ctr, the mainstream media is not liberal. It’s mainstream. And it passes judgement as it always has. and I think it reflects mainstream values.
I think it’s actually fairly liberal, but not because of some grand conspiracy. I think it’s typically just because that industry tends to draw young idealists to it. Unfortunately as a whole, the media industry has simply forgotten how to provide facts without opinion.

Participant
I don’t have a problem with public pressure. That’s how the world runs.
In the past we has lynch mobs seekIng justice. We had prosecutors prosecuting innocent people just to satisfy the communities’ demands for crime solving.
This is just an event in the arc of history. The notoriety brings about a much needed conversation.
Public pressure is one thing, but when it’s being driven by the media misrepresenting the facts, that is a problem. This does highlight a need for conversation, but it’s about the media and their relentless pursuit of ratings that would drive them to try to make an obviously innocent man look guilty to stoke racial tensions when race had nothing to do with it.

ParticipantThe simple fact is that it was Martin who assaulted Zimmerman. Until that point, no crime had been committed by anyone.
I’ve also been disgusted by the media reporting on this. I don’t think Zimmerman would have even been arrested if it wasn’t for ll the false reporting by the press trying to spin this as a hate crime.
I definitely feel sorry for Martin and his family. I’m sure Martin had no idea Zimmerman was armed, but I also feel sorry for Zimmerman who has been slandered, libeled, and forced to go through an arrest and trial for a bunch of political BS.

ParticipantI had Cox internet and hated it. I went with AT&T and haven’t looked back.
1.) When it worked, my Cox internet speed varied from 4 – 12 MBS (I paid for 18)
2.) Customer service was a joke.
3.) At the time, they didn’t offer a combined modem/routerMy problem was that it became obvious Cox has way too many customers on their system without enough infrastructure. My modem kept crashing because there wasn’t enough signal gain. If it was late at night or other off peak times, it worked ok, but during the day, and especially in the early evenings, my modem would get dropped. If there was a popular game on or some other big HD TV event, then I couldn’t get on the internet at all. When I called customer service they kept telling me that I had a bad splitter somewhere even after I plugged the line coming into the house directly into the modem. I finally dropped their service all together and went with AT&T DSL. I pay for 12 MBS, and every speed test I have run shows 11.9 or so, and it NEVER crashes. If I was in a Time Warner area, I would think about switching, but I’ll never sign up for Cox internet again.
Admittedly though, I haven’t had to deal with AT&T’s customer service.

ParticipantI’d recommend a Subaru as well. Either the Forester or the Outback. I have a ’99 Outback with nearly 200k miles. So far I have had to replace one bearing and an alternator. The AWD is excellent. I’ve driven in snow, ice, sand, and mud without issue. There’s plenty of room inside, and if you really need it, you can put 300 lbs on the roof rack. There are even accessories that will turn the cargo area into a kennel for your dogs. Definitely take a look at them before you make your decision.

ParticipantWe waited for nearly 9 months on our short sale without a peep from anybody. Then suddenly, the bank approved on the condition we could close in 21 days.

ParticipantI think it’s reasonable to asked if you’re a citizen. However, as soon as you say you are, the 4th amendment should apply. Has anybody noticed the BP’s new camera setups at all of their checkpoints. They’re recording everybody’s face and license plate each and every time you pass through. I usually flip them bird as I drive by.

ParticipantI was chatting with one of the people I work with about some new cabinets in my house. He builds some really high end custom cabinets as a side job. He recommended going to IKEA believe it or not. Said you really can’t beat the quality for the price.

Participant

We are seeing a lot of scary claims about how much the sequester will hurt. But just how big is it in our overall federal budget?
It is $85 billion in a budget of $2.5 trillion. That puts it at about three percent of our federal spending.
Since our federal spending has exploded in the past four years, it should be easy to find the low hanging fruit and trim the fat. Instead, we will hear sob stories of cuts that hurt real people and valued programs. Instead of cutting waste, they will create real victims to pull at our heartstrings. And this strategy will probably work–it already is working with many people here.
Re the bolded part….our federal spending really hasn’t exploded the last four years. It exploded in fiscal year ending 9/30/09. Since then, it has been relatively flat, and current projections are for it to remain relatively flat though 2014 with about a 5% increase in 2015. That’s a 5% increase after a 2% increase between 2009 and 2014. Not annual. A total increase of 2% over 5 years. The only time during our lifetimes when the budget has grown anywhere near that slowly over a 6 year period is the late 90’s. When we had a balanced budget.
Wasn’t the “explosion” supposed to be a 1 time expense (TARP)? My issue is the fact that the govt has continued spending an extra 700 billion a year ever since, so how is it that 86 billion in cuts is going to cripple the govt?
