Yes. That’s why we need strong a strong consumer protection agency to prevent banks from charging those exorbitant fees, especially to the customers who are move vulnerable and can least afford it.I think that a pain vanilla, no fee, bank account should be like universal lifeline telephone. Everyone should be able open up one. Credit card or debit transactions should be declined if funds are not available without any fee to the consumer.
Fees are the same as interest and should be disclosed as such.

That being said, I use a credit union in combination with Ally Bank and ING Direct for banking purposes.[/quote]
First you wanted free healthcare and now you want free banking? Seriously?
Next thing you’ll be asking for free clothing, a free car and free food.
You know what’s great about the free market? If you don’t like a bank’s fees you are free to MOVE YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!

ParticipantBeen with SDCCU since I moved to San Diego in the early 90’s. Back then you had to work for the city/county or be related to someone who did to be a member. Now it’s open to everybody.
I just laugh when I hear all these stories about the banks nickel and diming people with service fees. Everyone complains but they still all have millions of customers?
It’s going to get worse now with the new ‘financial regulations’. They counted on many of these fees and interest paid by financially illiterate or irresponsible people to cover the cost of free checking accounts and free credit cards. I think you’ll be seeing annual fees coming back for credit cards and monthly fees returning for many checking/savings accounts as well–for everyone.

ParticipantIt’s ironic we see people railing against the AZ law and Prop 8 as the tyranny of the majority…yet that’s exactly the card Obama pulled when he started ‘remaking’ our country.
“We have a mandate…Elections have consequences” he pronounced. Isn’t that having your cake and eating it too?
Democracy (the will of the people) is ok when they are doing something YOU agree with but it’s a tyranny if you aren’t in the majority?
I find that Democrats like to call us a Democracy when they are on the winning side of an issue but quickly remind us that we aren’t a Democracy but a Constitutional Republic when they are on the losing side of an issue.
Thanks for the LOL…
