ParticipantRegarding being old school, it is a good thing or bad thing ?
If a person is reluctant to use a good technology/technological breakthrough for house inspection by being trying to be a old school, then won’t he be missing out the advantages of new technologies to find issues ?fun4vnay2
ParticipantI am still on H1B visa drawing pretty good money waiting for my green card for last 7 years.
I am in states for last 10 years and gotten my MS in EE here. But everywhere I look, people following the straight path are punished here.
Everyone talks about the illegal immigrants no one talks about people like us waiting for our green card.
People who acted in a fiscally responsible way now are bailing out the others..fun4vnay2
Participant@sdrealtor:
I agree different strokes for different people
I have lived in almost all the places ( rochester NY, nyc, chicago, atlanta, dallas etc ) in USA but always find something fun to do almost anywherefun4vnay2
ParticipantBG, How do you get so much time to rant?:-)
Anyway, my yearly income is >>150K and have quite a bit of cash for downpayment,
But still paying so much for housing sucks at-least in my perspective.fun4vnay2
Participant
Exactly! People in other parts of the country truly get to enjoy playing golf all year, driving to the mountains for great skiing, world class surfing, mountain biking, hiking, weekends in vegas/palm desert/napa etc. We have none of that here to enjoy;)
I get your sarcasm:-)
But reality is: People here work to pay off mortgage not to live/enjoy making double income family a necessityfun4vnay2
ParticipantI don’t really see a lot of value in staying in SanDiego.
I am here just because I have a well paying job.I always tell my friends: You are well off in low expense areas like TX, Carolinas.., don’t come to CA
Look at the amount of people( eg in Piggington ) discussing housing here because of the high cost.
You would find people in other parts of the country engaged in some better activities.

ParticipantFrom what I heard from my close friends working on Qualcomm, Motorola wants to be as far as possible from Qualcomm.

ParticipantGuys
As a common man using sheer common sense here are my comments:
America needs lots of middle class jobs
It does not matter if Americans are good at maths science or whatever, what matters is the pay::If a company can hire a talented worker/engineer for $30K/year in India why would it hire one in USA for $100K/year.
I am personally seeing lots of knowledge job flights to countries like India which really got me worried about the middle class in America here.
Either the wages have to come down here drastically or there may be a point when outsourcing would become very expensive.
With all the advancement in technology which has happened and is happening, this paints a worrisome picture for middle class here.First the manufacturing jobs now the high end/knowledge jobs..

ParticipantDidn’t get time to go through the whole thread but here are few thoughts to ponder::
All the middle class jobs are being shipped-out/outsourced to countries like India.
This is first hand experience coming from me and my friends all over USA working as knowledge worker ( engineering, IT, Medical etc ) in companies across different verticals.Innovation and education won’t help this country from my perspective. Take example of innovative company like Apple or Google: They can come up with superb ideas ideated by small number of individuals in USA but when it comes to implement the ideas for masses, it is all done in India and China leaving no middle class jobs for here.
In essence, US needs to stop this middle class job flight.
Recently, large companies have shown record profits but no job growth..
