CoronitaParticipant

OK. I emailed the sales guy back and asked for a $500 off instead of $1000, meeting in the middle.
If it doesn’t pan out, I go on vacation next week and if it’s sold during prez week so be it.
I’ll let fate decide. Maybe leaving an extra $27k in the market is good or bad…..We will see
Meanwhile, got a marketing email…
Such a nice car….

You just caved. Should have let him think about it until Monday. He would’ve called.
I’m not going to deal with this next week because I’m on vacation, so the way I look at it is, close by tomorrow or not at all. There’s a high chance these will be gone over the long weekend, and if they aren’t I’ll disappear and reappear, because it means these cars aren’t moving. I think the sales guy is going to try to use the long weekend to move these cars out. And if he can’t, then he’ll call me back.
They have 12 on the lot, I doubt they will be able to sell all 12. The only problem is there is only 1 that is “stripped”. The other ones have a $3400 bremo/BBS wheel package that I don’t want since I plan on running my own wheels/tires/brakes. But if it comes down to that, I’ll ask for a greater discount off of that. Just won’t be able to get the color I originally wanted. So I would rather spend a little more on the stripped car, and save the rest toward my own aftermarket upgrades, versus getting all this from the factory.

Such a nice car….A little out of my price range, by a factor of 10…lol.
CoronitaParticipant
Maybe get a bulk discount?
Buy one get one free.
CoronitaParticipant

omg… agree with zk. Buy it.
(can’t believe there aren’t 10 post already trying to shame you into buying a used Prius and donate the rest to world peace)
What would you buy if you could convince yourself to part with 100k?
$100k. Nothing. I don’t think I could bring myself to buying a $100k car, unless my net worth was like around $10-20million, such that my viewpoint of a $100k car was like a $20k car.
Go big, or a go cheap.
trust me, you will buy a $100K car way sooner than 10M networth.agree with the others, buy the miata.
Truthfully, I’m the kinda of guy that would be as happy driving a $100k car on one day and a $5k crapmobile the other day. The closest analogy I can think of is one of my friends who shops at Tiffany’s one day, and Walmart the other. Oh well, we have our own little quirks.
The problem is that $100k is really pushing the envelope these days. You can load up an M3/M4 and that would be $100k. It doesn’t feel like it’s a $100k car.
You use to be able to get a 911s below $100k just a few years ago. Now a 911s starts around $105k…. Car prices have gotten a little out of hand.I really like the 911s when I drove it and almost pulled the trigger on that… Darn short sales property that came on the market…Though, that was a good decision.
You know what car I really like? My colleague’s McLaren….
CoronitaParticipant
I CAN’T HEAR YOU
;)
$4500 OFF..
$4500 OFF..
$4500 OFF..
$4500 OFF..That’s $25.4K before tax….Or maybe you can try for the additional $1000, and if two of us are asking for it, he’ll say what the hell.
CoronitaParticipant
Well what’s done is done… I was rooting for you to get the new Miata, selfishly (meaning, not based on any financial analysis, but just because I think they are so cool and I want a pigg to buy one).
But while disappointed in that respect, I think you made the right choice in waiting for the fat pitch. You have a functional car(s) so you have the luxury of patience, might as well use that to your advantage.
For myself, my Miata just turned 14 years old and I have no plans to replace it in the foreseeable future. But man, the new model makes it tempting.
Well, they are $4500 off!!!!
CoronitaParticipantBoom, dealership said no… I’m done… Well that was easy!
Walking out over $1000…. FLU style…..Go cheap or go home….

CoronitaParticipantanother dealer is offering $5000 +500 off, so I’m asking the first dealer to match, since it’s the configuration I would want. We’ll see. Hopefully, they will say no, and I can walk before the weekend. If they say yes, I’m running out of excuses…
I don’t care. If they say no, my wallet doesn’t have a big hole.
CoronitaParticipantSvelte,
How sophisticated of an investor is your son? I ask because if this is the first time he’s trying to invest in a property, I don’t know I think perhaps he should try something more simple. Just my opinion.
CoronitaParticipant
Flu,
What brands of camera are you using?
I was going to buy Nest Thermostat, but went with Honeywell because Nest has complaints about temperate not being accurate!
I bought Lutron CasĂ©ta Wireless switches because I trust switch from electrical company instead of a tech company. The hub was a pain to get connected but I don’t have to worry about quality of the switches. BTW, Lutron tech support is 24/7 US based. Switches are expensive, $50+, but I called on a Friday night and they diagnosed a three way switch problem was caused by my wiring mistake. Ten minutes later and working!
lol, I use my older dash cameras that I no longer use. I have a few foscams that were onsale that I am using too.
CoronitaParticipant
Home Depot sells water pressure gauge ~$12. The pressure nut is double nutted meaning you have to loosen the lock nut first, then loosen the pressure bolt. Flow some water and recheck gauge. Easy.
You might keep an eye on the gauge when someone in the house turns on faucet. Should be same pressure. If it drops=bad regulator.
If you guys are so inclined, and want to spend about $400, you can install another pressure regular just after the meter. This will reduce the pressure to the landscaping. Advantage is less atomization at the spray heads. Bigger raindrops=more gets on the ground.
Another way is the install a smaller pressure reducer at the beginning of each sprinkler manifold.
amazon has plenty of them
For example…
i bought mine at a local ACE Hardware.
I haven’t changed my regulator/shutoff valve yet.
CoronitaParticipantSpeaking of pay people more, get more work done….It works, up to a point…As long as the company can afford it. Google can get away with this, up to a point of their profitability…And only people highly specialized and talented. Simple supply and demand. The majority of the people in the workforce, are not really special, including even me. And the market price will adjust for that. Same goes for garlic pickers.
One Reason Staffers Quit Google’s Car Project? The Company Paid Them So Much
‘F-you money’ awarded to veteran team members boosted parent Alphabet’s R&D costs, prompting comment from the company’s CFOLol… This part was a gem…
The unorthodox system started in 2010, soon after Google unveiled its first self-driving vehicle. It was constructed to tie employees’ fortunes to the performance of the project, rather than Google’s advertising money machine. In addition to cash salaries, some staffers were given bonuses and equity in the business and these awards were set aside in a special entity. After several years, Google applied a multiplier to the value of the awards and paid some or all of it out. The multiplier was based on periodic valuations of the division, the people said. The precise metrics that the division was measured by– and caused the bonuses to balloon– are not known. But by 2015, the Google car project had come a long way: Google’s vehicles had logged more than one million autonomous miles; car companies including Toyota Motor Corp. and Tesla Inc. announced their own plans to develop autonomous systems; and analysts predicted the technology would transform the auto industry.
A large multiplier was applied to the compensation packages in late 2015, resulting in multi-million dollar payments in some cases, according to the people familiar with the situation. One member of the team had a multiplier of 16 applied to bonuses and equity amassed over four years, one of the people said. They asked not to be identified talking about private matters.
CoronitaParticipant
Haha, Harvey.
Also Intel is building a new fab in Phoenix, something they announced in 2011 then put on hold. But in Phoenix, not Youngstown. The bootstrappers better get their asses over to Phoenix, else over 1/2 of the workforce will be foreign born.
Looks like Intel is having an “alternative facts” moment….
http://finance.yahoo.com/m/0dc44315-12e7-3d76-b237-15cd0fbd5977/ss_a-day-after-its-big-jobs.html
“A day after its big jobs announcement, Intel warns of lower profit margins in a key businessIntel told investors on Thursday that it expects lower margins in its data center business, a day after announcing a multi-billion dollar investment at the White House. At its investor meeting on Thursday, Intel’s VP of its data center group, Diane Bryant, said its data center profit margins would drop over time to the low-to-mid 40 percent range, down from their historical norms between 45 and 50 percent. Shares briefly fell nearly 2 percent in heavy volume, before recovering, last down about 1.5 percent. The company’s data center business sells products to enterprises and cloud computing providers to use in their data centers. It’s been a critical contributor to Intel’s growth: in 2016, data”
Lol…. It’s not going to be a very good year for Intel, I think….
Their mobile story is still nowhere.
Then there’s AMD Ryzen undercutting their processor by 1/3-1/4…
And now this. -
