CoronitaParticipantThat’s it… after I’m done learning how to paint with a paint gun, learning how to weld is next on my list.

CoronitaParticipantI think you would have better luck posting on nextdoor.
CoronitaParticipant
It pays to be an optimist LOL.
If the market is a voting machine then this is over very very quickly IMO, but I accept that it could go the other way. Either way most likely SoCal will be open by June.
Time will tell.
When we look back at this period of time, there will be some people who were affected by this, and there will be some people who weren’t nearly as affected that had huge opportunities. I can understand why category 1 people are very concerned and sympathies to them.. Category 2 people will emerge from this better off than going in because things are at a discount and can be acquired on the cheap. Just don’t wait too long, otherwise it ends up being that waiting for 50% off La Jolla beachfront property back during the great recession that never happened. I don’t need rock bottom pricing. A decent discount is good enough for me versus missing the boat. Just be thankful if you have working capital that you can use to take advantage of any bargains. many people probably aren’t as lucky. some don’t have a job, and some don’t have income because their income sources stopped paying them too. If these don’t apply to you, congrats.
I think my dad scored big with Microsoft stock right after the stock market tanked. He sold yesterday just a few weeks and pocketed $100k these past few weeks I think. Unfortunately, I did not inherit his smartness, lol.
CoronitaParticipantThe other thing I like is Altria. They got wacked even before coronavirus, but it seems like their sales picked up after covid. I guess with so many people staying home stressed, people have started picking up smoking again. I doubt the dividend will stay though. Currently sits at 8%. Doubt it’s sustainable.
CoronitaParticipantThats too bad.
Looks like Casa Sol Y Mar in my hood is closing permanently too. Bummer.
CoronitaParticipantPicking up disney stock too

CoronitaParticipant
Having enough space for a home Office and some private outdoor space will be a base requirement for most going forward IMO.
I think I need a new house where I can put up a paint booth. I can’t find a space to setup a decent sized paint booth.
CoronitaParticipantlol. dating..ok, if you say so…
CoronitaParticipant
I like gardening, so I just added 4 new fruit trees to my collection (I’m up to 35 now). What I have observed lately, the long lines at nurseries and home depot gardening department are pretty crazy ( the stock of organic soils I’ve been buying is gone). It might be due to the supply chain, but I haven’t seen anything like it in 10 years since I’ve gotten serious about gardening. Lucky enough, I planted my raised beds before this COVID deal started, so I don’t have to buy greens/salads at all.
People are home and can’t go out to do things over the weekend. So it’s either hobbies, home improvement, cars, or for those that are single, watching porn since it’s not like you could easily get on tinder or Instagram for a quick hookup these days… I’m pretty sure the porn industry is doing well too.
CoronitaParticipant
I went over to an engineer’s desk one day and we worked through a problem. While we were talking he said he was moving to Montana for more privacy.
I asked where he lived now. He said a 10 acre avocado ranch in Valley Center. I looked at him confused.
He picked up on my confusion and said he was looking for a whole ‘nuther level of privacy than he had now.
There is this monstrosity in Carmel Valley called One Paseo built by Kilroy. It’s a ridiculously huge mixed use high density mall+high density housing supposedly catering to the high end tenants who want to live in a city like , higher density atmosphere. Even the rent reflected city likeness, with city like rent prices. There’s only one problem… It’s still just Carmel Valley in the suburbs. The vacancy was already pretty bad to begin with. After this covid scare, where people don’t want to live in such a dense environment, I can’t imagine them doing any better. I see some folks trying to get the hell away from high density housing if they can. And some , since they need to remain at home, are looking for a bigger place and contemplating buying.
And now, some of the folks that previously were looking forward to taking the trolley lines when they completed around UTC, mentioned to me they would be driving by themselves indefinitely. So looks like covid made people rethink just how far they want to take “going green”. I have a large collection of plastic bags again too from grocery stores.
And all those hand wipes towels, latex gloves, and face masks, and plastic bottlesnofnhand santizer being tossed on a daily basis can’t possibly be good for the environment.
CoronitaParticipantGot all my May rents in full too from every tenant. 3 month in a rows….Knock on wood.
Hopefully, with June people going back to work, this will be a thing of the past.
My goal is to hopefully hold out longer than most everyone else with a slight to upward increase net worth from multiple sources in case one or two of them get affected long enough for other assets to get discounted… and then hopefully be a position to buy in at good discounts. Time is ticking..
CoronitaParticipantDoes this mean that woodwind instruments and brass instruments won’t be allowed in an orchestra?
CoronitaParticipantMight be good time to buy more PG&E since they are emerging from BK surprisingly not so scathed. They dodged a big bullet with the governor and state officials so preoccupied with covid, they stopped caring as much about pg&e. Also, now that people are staying home more, residential usage is going to go way up especially during the summer.
CoronitaParticipant
I love old cars. They are very close to my heart.
I’m a regular at Concours d’Elegance. Canceled this year, btw.
But I decided long ago I’d rather others deal with their upkeep and restoration. I’ll just be an admirer who pays admission to the shows.
For me, it’s the fun of getting it done, as long as it comes out right. I think time spend with my labor hours, it would be cheaper if I paid someone else. But at the same time, I would never spend real money at old cars that have no financial value. It’s not like any of my cars would appreciate lol.
Painting is the only thing I can never get right. I keep practicing but I always mess it up. I think I need to figure out how to put together a paint booth. It’s hard to where I live. And it sucks all we can get is the low VOC paint in CA because some of the better quality paints don’t come in low VOC flavor. I feel like I am already retired, doing all these things during covid lockdown only better. by the time I’m 65 , my hands and arms will probably too fragile to work on things anymore. That will suck. Hopefully someone puts a bullet in me when that happens.
Hey more skills to put on my resume… Oh, wrong set of skills…. damn… I should be reading about software and AI….more useful stuff. Meh, I’ll let the Chinese figure it out. They’ll be better at it then me.
I’m suppose to be helping put an app together for a few demos tomorrow for a few customers. Supposedly to assist contact tracing and social distancing so businesses can reopen quicker….I’ll get it done over the next hour or two…And I’ll let my engineers finish the rest tomorrow. lol
