Participantstreak if you can handle the financial ramifications about living here don’t sweat it for a minute.
Look if I win MegaMillions in Florida I’ll be back. Quite simply living in a place like RSF or near the beach would be the hardest decision I’d have to make. The only thing I can think of to compete would be to live in Cleveland and invest in luxury loges at the gund to watch Lebron.
Most of the folks here aren’t really hating on SD. SD is a great place if you are a smart entrepreneur, executive, sales guru, etc. If you are just middle class and don’t come here with any kind of bank roll for downpayment it can be tough. In my case when I came from the midwest I had to cough up basically all my savings/stock to unload the house I was in. So I started out in the hole and this is not a place you want to start out that way. My salary was more than adequate if I hadn’t had the noose around my neck starting out. That and my wife took a big pay cut as a teacher since only a tiny private school had a position open.

ParticipantI’ve spent significant time in the DFW area, Warren, Ohio, and Raleigh, NC before coming here.
So I am familiar with Joe-gun rack, he doesn’t bother me that much. Ironically, though I swing more conservative than your avg. bear, I’ve never really hung around too many red-necks. In school I was a jock and popular with the girlies which didn’t sit well with our local mullets. That element worries me slightly about FLA. All of these towns had good areas and bad though Youngstown-Warren is more depressed economically. You can find it even in Encinitas if you are looking hard enough. For the most part simple economics cancels it out on the coast.
Most signs point to Oviedo as being a pretty nice area. A bit suburban, but for us close to work (near UCF) and avoids the nasty freeways.

ParticipantBy the way my kids are hard core Buckeye fans so that will be tough. Luckily OSU graduates so many each year that the alumni associations are large in just about any city (I am not an alumni) so they can at least find some non-gator fans in the area.
OSU plays Miami the next two seasons… I think this year in Columbus and next year down in Miami so we might be able to make the game. The Rose Bowl was an amazing experience this year, and I don’t think at this point they’ll ever flip and become Gator/Seminole or Hurricane fans.
I am so glad we were lucky enough to attend a Rose Bowl before leaving. Now I need to come up with some more bucket lists of things to do (if we can squeeze it in with Baseball). Wife hasn’t seen San Francisco yet, that is a must.
