ParticipantI went into the Page Source, and found the first comment by Paladin. Buried into that section is the field that holds the comment number. This must be how the blogger app is able to sort the messages.

ParticipantI realize I am being pedantic here but one thing I have noticed in Cali is that nobody tends to include the property taxes as part of the house payment. Of course a smart person would say that it is not part of the house payment, however coming from Ohio and Texas where perhaps the “rates” are higher (though the valuations are much lower) I am conditioned to talk about the house payment, as all encompassing.
I have also noticed a lot more people pay their property taxes as an annual or bi-annual payment (whatever it is) instead of being part of the house payment.

ParticipantThe Fraud Detective post I made a week or two ago was linking to a poster on Ben’s Blog who not only traced this but helped report it to the authorities.
SD Realtor take a look at this link, from my old posting and read about how this guy tracked sales that seemed suspicious. Apparently the FBI can even get interested in these cases.

Participantnestingcouple – 4Closure Ranch link:
Here is the series of articles. The first one you’ll see is Part V, but I recommend opening the blog, and going to the first post (4Closure Ranch part 1) and reading from there. Check the comments at each article before moving onto part 2, 3, etc.

ParticipantTo the Original Poster at least tell me you have read the 4-Closure Ranch series on one of the SoCal Bubble Blogs?

ParticipantWow if that is an actual current picture I can’t imagine who would buy that. The problem is besides coming up with cash for the purchase you have to come out of pocket to fix that mess. Is it possible to discount the house enough to add the cost of fixing this up into the resale?

ParticipantIt’s nice down there but I wouldn’t move there. Can someone verify for me if there are any large employers based in that Eastlake area, or does everyone have to commute through traffic to get to jobs? I see south 805 occassionally from UTC as I am heading north to Cardiff, and by 4:00 it’s already backed up, and probably all the way to CV. I know a guy who works at LPL across from where I work, and from Bonita he says it’s sometimes 1.5 hours each way to UTC.

ParticipantMan I hope my kids don’t turn out liberals.
One thing about Texas that’s bad are fire ants. Also Cockroaches, are quite common. In our last home (rented) before moving back to Northeast Ohio, we had a racoon problem in the attic. The owners were absentee and our property manager tried to be helpful, but it seems they would find their way back.
I figured out that Raccoons and Cats have a mutual non-aggression pact. One night I was just pissed off at listening to the damn thing (which scared my son), so I brought my big-ass Tom into the garage with me, opened the door to the attic and cracked open a can of tuna. The cat was eating the tuna, looked up at the coon, didn’t flinch and kept right on eating. Knowing the tools a Raccoon has, I was surprised it didn’t tear into the cat. Anyway, I hit the little bastard with my 9 iron, (it was creeping down the stairs slowly) but not flush enough to really hurt it.

ParticipantAnd here I thought Bush was an idiot, the stupidest President we’ve ever had. Turns out he is one of the most brilliant, conniving minds in the history of the world. To get all these people to act in concert and getting them to keep it secret all these years is a brilliant stroke. I am guessing every member of this secret cabal, down to the blue collar members who had a hand in this too, are millionaires several time over and only continue working, so as not to draw suspicion.
The lowest member of the society must be compensated highly, if for no other reason that they don’t want them pitching a new book to Judith Regan.

ParticipantThe Quicken Loans guy Dan Gilbert, purchased my Cleveland Cavaliers around 2 years ago and the basketball arena is now known as “Quicken Loans Arena” or often just “The Q”.
He promised to bring a bunch of jobs to Cleveland at one point but I have no idea how that worked out.

ParticipantI did 12 years in Texas including 8 in west texas (Abilene) and I liked it. Sure living in San Diego is a little cooler, but that much. It’s all in what you make of it.
I wouldn’t mind getting a similar job in Dallas, making close to 100K, no state tax, and homes are not investments. However I am not exactly floating resumes either, just saying it wouldn’t kill me.
In fact for my money, once you get a few miles east of the 15 (I am slightly east of the 5) with terrible commutes and oppresive heat, you might as well live in Texas and save 1/3 of the price of a home.

ParticipantI might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but 696,000 is surely going to mess with comps in SEH. Regardless of condition.

Participant3% in this case is a lot of money. Builder says well I’ll give your lowball, if we don’t have to pay this commission?
Naah that would too sinister, could this be just simple stupidity?

ParticipantHowland’s a nice town if you ask me. My sister lives there and if we head back for some reason, I think that’s where we’ll wind up. We moved here from Lordstown, and the kids are going to be big and athletic, and Howland at least has football. Nice community spirit.
However they could stay here, and wind up at LCC or Santa Fe Christian who knows. I am not worrying about it, the wife kids like it hear, and they like Howland as well, so either way it’s all good.
Oh and Go Bucks.
