ParticipantNo options here. Software Eng. MGR, and I know that some receive them, but they are merit only, and not that great in number to enduce retirement.

ParticipantYes I would agree, that coupled with the possible return of LeCharles Bentley, and the signing of Steinbach, that we might actually keep a QB off of his back 10 times a game. Shoot maybe they can even gain some rushing yards.

ParticipantWell for me mixxalot, it was access to superior athletics for the boys. The schools are fine many places, so I figured I’d love in one of the communities where sports are a big thing. Getting to the beach is nothing from my house. 5 minutes tops.
I’m kind of shallow like that… By the way, I work off Genessee and 5, and leave around 7:05 and its 20-25 minutes tops. On the way home it can get to 30-35 and on a rare day 45.

ParticipantIf I am not mistaken the new Carmel Valley HS being built is not the primary HS for that area, it would be Torrey Pines. In Encinitas (same school district), the primary HS is La Costa Canyon. However there is a lottery for students who want to attend smaller but closer (for me) San Dieguito Academy. I believe that this school (Canyon Crest) is similar, perhaps specializing in sciences.

ParticipantYou come on the site, blasting the very people who were the voices of reason against the 50-60% reduction predictions. You spout Zig Ziglar. What is this popular book everyone is buying where you think positve to make good things happen? It reminds of these Name-It, Claim-It churches, or Amway that I was once stupid enough to get into while 23 and still in the military (You have to get on the two tapes a week program if you want to be successful).
I don’t wish harm on anyone, I didn’t brag when the NY Times said anyone who decided to rent vs. buy over the last two years was wise. Rather, I consider myself lucky, not smart. I moved here in Aug. of 2005, and buying at that time would have been a disaster, one because I would have bought off on a toxic suicide load, and two because it’s a good time to sit back on good pay, and kill some debt. Luckily I wasn’t under the spell of David Leareah.
Since you can’t possibly read everything on the site, given that you don’t have time, the two sd and SD realtor’s have generally encouraged people to be entrepreneurial. That doesn’t mean they blindly encourage investing in Real Estate right now. It’s just odd for a troll to come on here and attack the middle of the road types, and doesn’t speak well for your ability to comprehend.
How about the scam in Murrieta of people just “going for it” signing fraudulent documents stating they intend to live in the homes, knowing all along that they weren’t. 4-Closure ranch down 16% in a few months, and Del Sur down 12% in 4 months. All this before the forclosure announcement today?
Why are foreclosures on the rise, Dean? Assuming everything will be ok, I’d like to know what you think about the rising foreclosures.

ParticipantYes the caucasian kids complaining sounded like a bit of sour grapes to me. Everyone has have similar opportunities.
Parenting from Homer Simpson:
“Kids are great. You can teach them to hate what you hate and, with the Internet and all, they practically raise themselves.”Thus like me my kids dislike soccer, and boy band/pop music. Oops, I just realized I am Homer. DOOOHH.

ParticipantI live in Cardiff and work off of Genessee and I-5. Ask if me if I’d rather make the commute down south on 805, and I’d say hell no. I mean if we are comparing commutes, then for my income range Sorrento Valley and UTC are less commute time. I decided a few minutes more (and generally 30 minutes or less) to travel up north 12 miles. La Jolla is out of the question, but getting to the surface streets after work, isn’t exactly easy. Two non-coastal communities that are less commute time are Rancho Penasquitos and Sabre Springs. In any case, the I-5 traffic I encounter is a slow down around the area of Via De La Valle everyday and this happens in both directions. Often this area is slow on weekends as well.

ParticipantI am wondering from the asians who seem to be so willing to discuss issues here. Being somewhat new here and not having kids up to the age of competing just yet, I have heard HS kids complain about trying to compete with the Asian kids. I know in my case I probably spend more time worrying about what HS my kids will attend because of the sports, rather than worry about education so much. We have La Costa Canyon (too far away for my taste), San Dieguito Academy, and Santa Fe Christian close by, and all seem like good schools, so the API scores I just don’t sweat.
Am I just possessing a big-dumb-jock attitude despite my advanced degree? I was warned that it’s such a pain to get into a UC school, that I should question whether my kids even play at all and focus on grades, but I just don’t find that acceptable, if my boys want to play, they should. They are currently doing well in elementary, always on honor roll, and one is in GATE, but I also know we are not gung-ho around here about going above and beyond the standard curriculum, despite my wife being a teacher. Of course she was a college athlete, and is more of a “sports mom” than a calculus mom.
So my question what should I expect as my kids start moving up, are the HS kids I spoke with likely disgruntled and giving up too easily? This is what I suspect, because they don’t strike me as having that stick it out attitude about things.

ParticipantOh absolutely sdr, I will probably slide over to the area you mention. My friend who just bought in Westwood sent me one that he actually wanted to buy and couldn’t get them down to $595 from $617. Apparently the owner moved and is now willing to deal, but I think the area closer to El Camino Real while more expensive, is better for me. RB is just too hard to commute to I-5/Genessee area. From Cardiff it’s rarely more than 30 minutes and surface streets in Encinitas would add 5-10 minutes tops.

Participant2/12/07 – $425,000
3/5/07 – $560,000
6/7/07 – $700,000Who says the craziness is over, though admittedly we’d need to see the place sell at that price. The one halfway down Playa Riviera with a view was $581,000, though it was a junker. There is one just adjacent to this place on Playa Riviera that sold for $689,000 with a ton of upgrades. That property was far more elegant than this Emma property.
I drove by, and all I can say is Yuck, but one man’s trash….

ParticipantOh and the house is not for rent. I drove past it, and it’s under some remodeling, it looks pretty rough. So basically the original 2/12 sale, that person was merely getting out from under the home. Possibly not wanting to do repairs, but I am surprised it didn’t reset some comps.

ParticipantOops forgot the address is 912 Emma Dr.

ParticipantI don’t consider Denver to be the Midwest. Far more Western, than say Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis or St. Louis. However I am sure the foreclosure rates are high there as well. Bear in mind that these areas never saw the ridiculous runup in prices, and thus there is less equity to fall back on. Here foreclosures were a non-issue for several years because of run-up.
