ParticipantCareful, rumor has it that they had some possible insolvency issues today that led them to freezing withdrawals and some transactions. I was not able to move cash around between accounts and I got confirmation of similar issues from many other people including the CFO and finance dept. at my company. We have all of our options in Etrade and my main account is through them although I took out most of my cash earlier in the week. Just make sure your positions are below the 500k mark and cash below 100k. If you happen to be fortunate enough to exceed those numbers it’s best to move positions and cash to other brokers and stay under the caps in all accounts. I would take the issue very seriously at this point. Today was scary and tomorrow won’t be any better and likely much worse.

ParticipantYou could very well be right about 500 today with most of that coming at the end of the day. The strong man is holding it up but he’s remembering that he never ate his Wheaties this morning and didn’t take the roids.

ParticipantThat last post says it all. Only conforming means pretty much all 80-90% of the business they’ve been doing the last couple of years is gone. Couple that with having so many REOs on the books (many more to come!) and having to deal with the paper coming back they will be BK within 2 months and likely right about 1 month from now.

ParticipantObviously you didn’t see the news release this morning. They’re buying time at this point. It’s just a matter of whether BC will come before my Sept. Puts expire or will I have to buy some Octobers. It’s all happening much quicker than I though it would.
