I have no idea how to fix this, and I wouldn’t have time even if I did because I have too many emails to send, too many forms to fill out, and too many silly meetings to take up space in.
“Post of the year” nomination right there.

March 8, 2010 at 11:10 AM #522620creechrrParticipantI like Concho spend my time at work responding to/sending email, dealing with paperwork, and attending meetings. It all bores the hell out of me. I often wonder why the clock is moving so slowly.
I’d much rather be employed in an endeavor in which I actually created or repaired something. I’m pretty good with my hands and don’t mind getting a little dirty.
As Concho pointed out, there isn’t much money to be made working with ones hands in this day and age. As, I’ve moved “up the ladder”, the more disinterested I have become. I don’t really have a feeling of accomplishment or contribution to our society. The paper just keeps moving along.

March 8, 2010 at 12:29 PM #522645briansd1GuestAgainst the advice of his parents, my young cousin quit a “great” engineering job at a “great” company to go live on a ranch near Arcata, CA. He does manual work clearing up and maintaining the ranch.
That was after a divorce and short marriage. The bride’s family bought them a nice house. The couple would’ve otherwise live a charmed life.
My cousin will soon go to Asia to do charity work in villages. He doesn’t care about money.
I told him to make good contacts for future business opportunities, haha…
In the 60s and 70s young hippies went to China to see Mao, experience communism and learn Chinese. They are now rich and running hedge funds and consulting firms thanks to their contacts.
