GuestThere isn’t a Wally world in C-bad and there is a good reason why. Trojan seems to think a lot of tax dollars are being missed. More than the cost of housing around a Wal Mart? Look at the cost of housing (now don’t go above into the hills into C-bad to get your prices) around Wal Mart, any wal mart? That should be a good indicator why the smart people of C-bad said no.

That doesn’t help their budget. Sales tax revenues directly go into in city coffers.
The houses values in Kearny Mesa right above WalMart certainly didn’t drop when Walmart opened up there.

It could be a Henrys or Albertsons. If it were called Henrys, the people would not be so opposed. It’s the same. The only difference is branding.

[/quote]Because they are elected representatives of the people who live in Carlsbad and care about their quality of life and the real estate values? Not discussing the direction of the impact here, just the fact that the elected bodies are supposed to take the will of people into consideration.
