July 26, 2014 at 7:53 AM #777058FlyerInHiGuest
Rich, thanks for sharing this link for the app. Its been a while since I last posted 🙂
This is a pretty neat app! I was surprised at how well it was able to match me up based on lifestyle choices.
Its an interesting take on buying or at least searching by lifestyle vs metrics and dry xls data points.
It seems they do the work for you, which for the average buyer or out of area buyer is a god send.
I am sure more pioneering RE agents will see this as a tool for their clients for sure.
While I don’t see this necessarily for the more hardcore investor types as their daily driver, it would be helpful for the rest of us.
Seems like it has tons of potential.
Cool app. But not really for me. When looking, I save an address and I drive by. Eventually, I get to know the neighborhood pretty well.
Sure social networking is the way to go. But does real estate really fit? Maybe for the first time buyers.
It’s not like you have endless choices that you need to wade through. But maybe I’m old. I prefer SDLookup to the other slicker sites.
I wish the creator much success.

You’re probably referring to the lack of “find” in the tag line. We had a lot of internal debate about leaving it out as we aspire to be a lot more than just a real estate search app.
Have you tried the app out? We’d love to get your feedback on it.
(your comment made us chuckle – thanks!)
“The smart and fun way to your own house”
just … I don’t get it.
Kind of like “do you know the way to San Jose?” But it also sounds like a method of owning a home. Plus I think the “find” word is good because the f in fypio is for find.
July 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM #777060ocrenterParticipantI don’t think the typical Piggington crowd is the intended audience here. Quite frankly, if we asked Piggingtonians if Facebook or candy crush would be a success, we would have probably shot it down.
The interface is easy and simple, the most important demographic info is nicely married into the home listing, this is zillow and redfin and ziprealty for the Facebook and tweeter crowd.
Of course piggingtonians are going to hate it, but that’s why it’ll likely be a success.
July 26, 2014 at 10:24 AM #777061FlyerInHiGuestOCr, yes you’re right.
Yes I think it’s for the Facebook crowd. You save a kitchen and share it “hey honey, don’t you just love it.” There’s no point really because you can’t transport it to ideal house.
I would love more realtor data info such as liens and mortgage amounts on the house and the dates the loans were taken out.
I’m with njtosd, not crazy about unified login.

The key on these sites is to generate traffic and repeated traffic. Redfin and zillow will not be used after someone makes their purchase. But this I can see people continuing to use even if they are not in the market for a house and merely just looking for remodeling and decorating ideas.
July 26, 2014 at 11:25 AM #777065FlyerInHiGuestOr curiosity about different neighborhoods and their neighbors.
Lien info is public data. If that’s made available for free, people will be looking frequently and sharing with each other.
Combine with houzz type decorating ideas.

With good reason:
I don’t really see it that way (I’m not part of that crowd)… to me the appeal is really that the search is a lot more powerful than redfin and the others. To a nerd like me who likes to be able to search across lots of data and parameters to dial in on things, that’s pretty cool.
The social networking aspect part of it is probably not something I’d use much… though I agree there’s definitely a demographic out there that will get a lot of use out of it. I’m just not one of them… to me it’s all about who has the best search.

No matter how good the searches are, it is totally inadequate for me if I’m unable to view it on a full-size desktop monitor.
July 27, 2014 at 10:31 AM #777077Rich ToscanoKeymasterYeah, I’d prefer a web browser version as well.

From my understanding, a desktop version is in the works, but the first priority is mobile since that’s were all the growth is at. I work at an auto dealer and am in charge of our online marketing and the other week, our factory marketing consultant showed me how traffic to our desktop website has been continually dropping over the last few years (precipitously in the last 2) but visits to our mobile site have exploded. With that being the case, we ended up allocating a lot more resources to our mobile website. If I were to guess, that’s why they’re doing the iphone app first.
