this is zillow and redfin and ziprealty for the Facebook and tweeter crowd.
I don’t really see it that way (I’m not part of that crowd)… to me the appeal is really that the search is a lot more powerful than redfin and the others. To a nerd like me who likes to be able to search across lots of data and parameters to dial in on things, that’s pretty cool.
No matter how good the searches are, it is totally inadequate for me if I’m unable to view it on a full-size desktop monitor.
Agree with this.
From my understanding, a desktop version is in the works, but the first priority is mobile since that’s were all the growth is at. I work at an auto dealer and am in charge of our online marketing and the other week, our factory marketing consultant showed me how traffic to our desktop website has been continually dropping over the last few years (precipitously in the last 2) but visits to our mobile site have exploded. With that being the case, we ended up allocating a lot more resources to our mobile website. If I were to guess, that’s why they’re doing the iphone app first.
This piece of information would be more persuasive if you included your sales trends.

You’re probably referring to the lack of “find” in the tag line. We had a lot of internal debate about leaving it out as we aspire to be a lot more than just a real estate search app.
Have you tried the app out? We’d love to get your feedback on it.
(your comment made us chuckle – thanks!)
Well, I don’t have a smartphone and I don’t really want one so I won’t be testing an app. Secondly, I’m suddenly out of the housing market and tired of looking. Yay.
Also, I understand why you thought of leaving out the “find” but the result is awkward. It doesn’t work for me as a catch-phrase. It makes no sense. I don’t think it is because I’m old. I think a young person would say “huh” as well.
Maybe you should drop a “?” in there. Or roll through a bunch of words – like “find” “love” “buy” “obsess over” “locate” “surf” “view” “visit” “move into” to get the impression that you can do more than just find.

Just so you get a chuckle out of the above in bold… SDDuuuude has spent his life working in cellular networks…
Of course it is always the house painter whose house is always in the most desperate need of paint!
Sorry Duuuude… had to raze you… When you coming to see the new things in my life?

I don’t have the hard numbers, but it was something like just short of a 30% drop in desktop visits compared with a couple of years ago. One of the major things that’s been quite challenging to the traditional way of car selling and that I’m seeing ALL the time now (and it seems to be increasing day by day) is we’ll have a customer that is in our dealership negotiating a deal with us and at the same time they are on their mobile phones shopping other dealer sites and getting information on our dealer cost, etc. We’ve lost deals to this phenomenon when a customer finds a better equipped/priced car in stock elsewhere, etc. Clearly things are changing in all industries from the betterment of the consumer- those business and industries that adapt to the new paradigm will survive and those that don’t will go the way of the yellow pages…. Of course, remember all these statements are coming from a Car Salesman (Sales Manager technically) and combined with the fact that I’m posting this anonymously on an internet forum doesn’t speak much to persuasiveness or credibility on my part. So I guess you’ll have to take what I’m claiming as you would with any other poster whom you don’t personally know; with a leap of faith π

Does this mean that mini-CE is here? If so, congratulations!!! π
Hope you (and/or your wife) get some more sleep. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you might want to read this book:
“On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the GIFT of Nighttime Sleep”
After seeing the incredible results with our friends’ kids, we followed it ourselves. All three of our kids were basically sleeping through the night (6-8 hours, or more) by 12 weeks, and they were all waking up and entertaining themselves for a bit more. Not one of them would wake up screaming or crying…I’d usually hear them singing or making fun noises when they’d wake up.
Have tons of fun! This time is stressful, but you will miss it when it’s gone.

It’s how it goes… After spending almost every day with a smartphone at work, when I go home from work. I really do miss my Motorola Razor… It met an untimely death when it was stuck in my jacket pocket and I accidentally sandwiched it in between two chairs…
I can’t even stick the latest phones in my pockets…..And they get bigger and bigger…

All the best to you and your family.
August 4, 2014 at 6:19 PM #777217AnonymousGuestI definitely agree with you.
For seasoned RE pros or folks that are data nuts, this probably isnt for them.
But thinking about it from a buyers perspective, like someone from outside the area that hasnt a clue about San Diego or the kind of data that matters to them. I can see where an RE pro could agree or disagree with that kind of data but add local perspective in a shared Collection or whatever they are called. Perhaps I am looking at this beyond what is there and the potential. Also as I understand it, its not just going to be in San Diego. I think they are going into other cities.
It would be great to compare and contrast where I live now to places I may be moving (from a job change etc)One other thing I noticed is that I wound up looking at properties that I could likely never afford but it was really fun ‘window shopping’ and saving my favorite parts of a house.
Good luck to the developer
