My question is…
For a school like Sage, which one group does 999, how the heck does one do better next year? Maybe I should just send my kid there and bring down the scores in that group… lol…Never a big fan of these API tests. That’s what public schools do these days. Prepare kids to do well on API tests…Frinkin bean counters.

It seems like most Curie parents have PhDs, Typical parents are scientists, academics, engineers. Not a lot of blue collar types. Kind of scary how uber-educated the parents are. Very homongenous student body from a socio economic standpoint (which I think is kind of a bad thing for the students.)
My sister teaches at Spreckels – because it’s a spanish language magnet you have a lot more english learners, kids from lower socio economic backgrounds, etc. But it’s also a “seminar” school – meaning there’s a subset of super smart kids, too.

August 12, 2010 at 11:10 AM #590069jameswennParticipantSo high scoring schools have a large white population followed by asians.
That’s the formula.
I think the scores are BS. I see the the school that my wife was teaching at ranked in the 7 range. I used to have to help her grade papers and there’s no way those kids could score higher than the 2 range. My wife has taught at 3 other elementary schools, teaching 3rd grade, so i know moron 3rd graders by their work.
