Useful site. Thanks.
A few months back I submitted a “request for reduction form” that included a copy of an appraisal report used for a refinance.
If I’m reading the numbers on the site correctly, it looks like they assessed my property about 5% lower than the appraisal.
I was concerned that the county would fudge the values to be higher than they should be (after all, it’s in their best interest). But it seems, (from my single example, at least), that the numbers may turn out to be pretty reasonable.

July 8, 2009 at 11:09 AM #426985temeculaguyParticipantThey are going to lose a fortune, why are they automatically reducing everyones taxes without even being asked to do so? It is too fair and reasonable to be something from the government.
I ran a few properties I am familar with to sample and all of them indicated that they are being automatically evaluated for a reduction and the owner will get the county’s new valuation in July, if they don’t like it then they can ask for a reduction after reading it. In reality, probably only a small percentage would have asked for a reduction in the first place.
It makes me want to say “who are you and what have you done with my government?” Maybe someone has the treasurer tied up and a gun pointed to his head.

July 8, 2009 at 11:52 AM #427005eclipxeParticipantAgreed, I was pleasantly surprised. I submitted a re-evaluation form and the accessor was about 1k over. Not complaining.
I can’t imagine why they’d do this automatically, they’re going to be broke… I’m happy as a homeowner getting my payment reduced by $200/mo but worried about decline in services due to massive tax shortfalls…
On the other-hand, I can now cash flow an additional $200 as a rental, not including tax benefits.
