If you take time to read the text of Supreme courts order, (which can be found here at http://tinyurl.com/kj2n7r), you will find that Supreme court only declined to stay the sale as requested by the parties. They have made it clear that this not a judgement on the underlying legal issues of the case. They note that th parties requesting the stay have not provided sufficient reasons to grant a stay.
Presumably, the legal issues you are worried about may come in front of the supreme court at some other day.

Holy crap. Did the cost of that golden eagle just go up. I swear it was around $1200 last time i checked. Now I’m seeing it’s around $1337.Maybe my memory serves me wrong.
You’re right, I just checked and now the price is $1339. I got in at $1289 – the price when you initially posted the link. Maybe I should sell now.
Thread Hijack…
You know. Something I just noticed…You purchase via credit card and don’t take delivery for a few months because it’s backlogged right? Did they actually already charge your card yet?….Anyway, you know you can return it 7 days after receiving it right?
You know where I’m going with this…This is sort of like a hedge against this coin depreciating at least for a few weeks/month….Let’s just say you purchase a few of these coins and charge it on your CC at $1200 a pop. I don’t think they bill you until the order actually ships. If it’s backlogged for a few weeks or months, and lets say the price of the coin goes up, you’re good. If it comes falling down before your order, you cancel the order (depreciation hedge #1). If the price falls and the order gets filled, your CC gets charged ,but the mint allows you return it within 7 days of receiving it (depreciation hedge #2)….
Granted you just bought 1 coin. But if you bought a 10,20,30….Hmmmmm……Heh….Not suggesting anyone do this….really…

March 25, 2011 at 5:16 PM #680964PCinSDGuestSo far it appears the price has more than doubled on that coin. The going price is a little over $2500. Too bad I didn’t foresee those results back then. I would’ve bought a hundred of them. That would’ve been a nice, albeit risky, short term call. But, with just the one coin, I’ll hang on to it and it will go to someone when I die. In any event, thanks for the tip Flu.
