But my point is that it hasn’t been significant enough to keep me from accomplishing what I have, and it certainly hasn’t been signficiant enough to keep Obama from accomplishing what he has.

Ok, about your “point”. It’s good that you didn’t allow discrimination to prevent you from succeeding. You shouldn’t. If you had that would have made you a “victim”. But, I’m curious. Did anyone suggest that you should have let discrimination keep you from succeeding. It’s no special feat, partypup. Every single day, African-Americans all over the country begin their day and refuse to let discrimination hinder them as well.

Then you are talking about discrimination based on social class/status. You have admitted that no matter what color you are, if you’re poor you will suffer MORE discrimination.

Do you really think Obama would be where he is today without his pedigree? It might surprise you to know that he was given his first book deal immediately after graduating from law school SOLELY because he was elected the first black president of Harvard Law Review. Had he been elected president of UCLA Law Review, no one would have looked his way.

Yes, I do. I don’t agree that if he hadn’t attending “Harvard” he would have no chance of attaining what he has in life-including the democratic nomination. That is Your opinion. I don’t share it.

I’m glad a white person didn’t say this because they’d have immediately been accused of being a racist. However, it’s worth asking if a white first term senator with Obama’s pedigree and political views would be garnering this much support. I tend to think not….

meandandale, does Hillary have a better track record? These are the candidates we were given to choose from. I like Obama’s character, vision and his idealism. I don’t like the side of Hillary that has been revealed throughout her campaign.
