Guest
Krishnamurti: “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”
Yeah, but it’s a measure of survival and thriving within that society, however sick it may be. It’s the only one that we know and the only that really matters.
Krishnamurti calls for a revolution of the individual psyche. That’s possible, but one individual won’t change society. And it’s unlikely that everybody will experience that same revolution at the same time.
As humans, we are bound to repeat our past mistakes over and over again. The best we can hope for is incremental improvements (mostly driven by technology) to our conditions.
Maintaining that society is ultimately the product of the interactions of individuals, he held that fundamental change in society can emerge only through freely undertaken radical change in the individual. Krishnamurti stressed the need for a revolution in the psyche of every human being and posited that such revolution cannot be brought about by any external entity, be it religious, political, or social.
